An important point to note for travellers is that the new Airport is located quite far from the city (and the old airport) So, all previous posts here about the Bangalore aiport such as taxi fares etc, become obsolete. I'll try to post a map showing the old an new location shortly.

its forty km outside the city - i sure hope they have transport figured out... and i aint talking about an airport bus service which is operational every 4 hours or so they also - i believe - have an airport tax of RS 700 [or thereabouts] for all exiting passengers does the new hyd intl airport have any such tax? :brishti |

Being a private monopoly, I understand they have the transport sorted out very nicely indeed: their own fleet of over-priced taxis.
Could be wrong, though; that might have been the new Hyderabad aiport. Same company isn't it? Same privatised system, anyway.

I flew into the new Hyd airport from kolkata and flew out also to Kolkata. I can say that the airport is world-class.
Yes, transportation to and from with private taxi is expensive, the logic being if you can afford to fly, you can afford to cab it. In any case, cab is by meter. Cheers Nattusbs |

volvo bus from BOM to BLR costs around 800-1200 bucks. i dont know about 3 tier a/c train costs. airfare is 2,500. now - the airport being 40 kms away, and bangalore being bangalore - its going to, most probably cost me another grand to come into town. no logic there - sorry. just making an airport with all them facilities of the 1st world kind is great - they aint doing nobody a favour, incidentally - its to do with the so-called economic boom or somesuchthing. what would really be neat, is - if the same kind of competence and facilities was extended outside of the airport too. :brishti |

Transportation is not that bad from the hyd airport.... the aeroexpress bus(every 30 mins from 4 locations in the city)is quite good service. Its more pluses than minuses i would say. |

Hello !
Does Anybody know if there will be a pre-paid cab service in this new airport? We will be arriving at 2 AM.... How far is the airport from the main railway station ?

This is just some info that I got on the new airport. FYI, I take Bellary Road everyday to work and the widening isn't even close to being done so I predict disastrous traffic considering the increase in volume and the horrible mess caused by so much incomplete construction and the havoc that the recent rains have had on construction. On the upside, I have never seen so much work being done on the road since the announcement was made that the opening was scheduled for 23/5 (though of course it has been postponed once again, but by just 24 hours this time). If they had been working this hard on the road the entire time it would literally have been done months ago. Yet another example of the incredible inefficiency that pervades much of India.
