All good things must end . . .
my location in BLR was 1km from airport. My boss travels at least once a week to DEL. It used to be easy to run him up to the airport. Now?
any guesses how long it takes to get to the new airport from "Airport Rd.?"

Nice cosy rupees sitting in nice cosy pockets?

Privatisation... competition? Oh dear me no, the wouldn't like that.

And yes, London's airports (apart from City, which is so small that not many have even noticed it, and Heathrow, which is a pain to get to, but I can't argue the 'London' tag) are rather absurd distances from London to carry the name.

Trivandrum-Bangalore-Kuala Lumpur

- My (Dutch) travel agent booked flights for me from Trivandrum to Bangalore and from there to Kuala Lumpur. In my travel information it looks like I will fly direcly from B to KL with Air India, but in the schedules on line I cannot find such a direct connection except by Malaysian Airlines. Should I worry and call my agent?
- Second question: from the old airport I planned a short trip into town for meeting an old Indian friend and having a beer at Koshi's. Seems a bit to far now from the new airport. How are the facilities to stay there for some five hours?

I arrived at BIAL on May 25th, the second day of it's operations. It is a much better facility than HAL. It took around 15 minututes for the baggage to arrive on the belt.

The ride to Jayanagar(South Bangalore)took around 1 and half hours on a Volvo.

The New Airport is without a doubt FANTASTIC: More of International Standards but accessibility is really an issue here. Earlier, from Airport to MG Road would hardly take 10 - 15 mins provided a decent traffic but now its soo far off. Its going to take minimum of 4 hours [45 kms from HAL where my family resides] for me to reach the new Airport and then 2.5 hours to reach Delhi. What else should I say about this ?

Hey, BIAL deserves to be congratulated on what seems to be a smooth switch over operation from HAL, compare to fiasco we had with Heathrow Terminal 5. No lost baggages I hope.

thanks so far, still curious about what sort of amenities BIAL has to offer to travellers that move on after arrival and have to stay at the airport (e.g. are lounges accesible for everyone?) and about the flights to Kuala Lumpur.
