Bangalore to tirunelveli (Navatirupati)

I am planning a visit to navatirupati on friday, I know roads are good till madurai but unaware of the road from madurai to tirunelveli and thiruchendur. I would like the fellow travelers to advise me of the route that should be taken and condition of road, places to stay and places to eat. I will post my travelogue after my return.

I cannot comment on the current state of Indian roads but however the road(s) in question, if not all, most of them are National Highways and the best you could ask for in India. Southern India ( down south from Madurai) is well connected by decent roads and highways. Tamilnadu has decent highways and transportation compared to most Indian states in general.

The road from Madurai to T.veli is usually excellent for Indian standards and is one of the busiest travel roads all the way down to Cape.

Can't help you much on the accomodation in that neck of the woods except Madurai. GRT Regency is a good hotel and so are Taj and the Heritage hotel (forgot the complete name).

Places to eat...if you are ever in Tirunelveli, don't miss a trip to the 'dark shop' for some Halwa. Its been a really long time for me and I don't even know if they are still in business but if they are, that is a must visit place for Halwa in Tirunelveli. Couple of places in Madurai also have comparable quality halwa ( the place opposite to rly. Station.....Victoria Edward Hall to be precise, on the corner of Townhall Rd). Madurai has a lot of street food you can try and some old time restaurants...Modern restaurant, Arya Bhavan to name a few. The night street food in Madurai is something you have to try for sure....minced egg parotas specifically.
