Assam-arunachal-megalaya trip may 2012

I am a big fan of IndiaMike site...used the information on this site in 2009 for a trip to North Sikkim. It was extremely helpful

Looking for some information for a trip in the end of April/first week of may to Guwahati/itanagar/meghalaya. I will be travelling with two kids aged 11 and 14. I have consciously moved away from tawang circuit as I felt the experience might be very similar to north sikkim.

My travel agent has given me the following itinerary. Need some help on this to finalise the details.

Day 01 - Welcome on arrival at Guwahati and transfer to Hotel. later half day local tour. O/N Guwahati
Day 02 - Full day local tour with Kamakhya Temple. O/N Guwahati
Day 03 - After breakfast transfer to Nameri National Park . O/N Nameri Eco Camp
Day 04 - Nameri to Itanagar transfer ( 230 km ) . O/N Itanagar
Day 05 - Itanagar to Ziro. O/N Ziro
Day 06 - Ziro. O/N Ziro
Day 07 - Ziro to Tezpur. O/N Tezpur
Day 08 - Tezpur to Kaziranga national Park. O/N Kaziranga
Day 09 - Kaziranga , Zeep and Elephant safari. O/N Kaziranga
Day 10 - Kaziranga to Shillong. O/N Shillong
Day 11 - Shillong to Cherrapunjee day excursion. O/N Shillong
Day 12 - Departure transfer from Shillong to Guwahati to board the flight for onward journey.

I highly recommend the following places for stay :

Hotel Ginger at Guwahati (alternately Greenwood Resort)

Hotel KF at Tezpur (alternately Hotel KRC Palace)

Iora Resort at Kaziranga (alternately Wild Grass Resort)

All these are extremely VFM and I intend to use these places (the ones without brackets) for my upcoming Tawang visit.

Thanks Traveller_from_hyd for sharing this info. Is it possible to find information on the actual driving hours between guwahati-itanagar, itanagar-ziro, Ziro-shillong? Trying to see if we can make it without breaking the journey and spend more time at the destinations. Any info on this will be great!

Dear Sathya,
Road cunstruction work is in progress from guwahati to Shilong. you mey gate traffic jam on road. as you leave shilong and your flight is also same day, better side try to come Guwahati on day11 night.

Thanks Sachin! decided to postpone northeast trip to next year. Instead went on a road trip to banglore-Hampi-hubli-sirsi-banglore. Planning to write about it
