Yatri Niwas - Secunderabad
I've heard good things about this hotel and its restaurants. It seems that it has recently changed ownership from AP Tourism to "Amogh Hotels" ?
Does anyone know its current status and if it retains the same quality as previously? I'm considering it for a two week business stay in Hyderabad. Last trip I stayed in Rs 3500-5000 western style hotels and found that none were really great value. I just want somewhere clean, with Internet and close to some good restaurants (Indian, multi-cuisine, veg and non-veg) in the top half of the city. Thanks, Hal |

Sorry, don't have recent knowledge...
The Amogh hotel contract is quite old. I don't think they have internet in the rooms- or they didn't, about a year ago. |

The hotel is decent value for money. Clean and large rooms and located not far from anywhere Secunderabad/Hyderabad- though traffic can be murder.
Rates may have gone up recently Has a pub and a couple of decent resteraunts. Other places in Secunderabad or even Begumpet not too far Just called them up.. Rates are 1400 + 5% tax for single room 2300 + 5% tax for deluxe room. No internet in the rooms. I think a cybercafe should be 10/15 mins walk or so, though a laptop and GPRS is a possibility. |

I have stayed here on two occasions, great location, breakfast under the huge tamarind tree and walking distance from Pradise.

And we had a Hyderabad meetup there - remember Jyotirmoy? We had drinks at the bar, but, it became loud and noisy, so we went outdoors under a canopy, I believe and that's where we had a nice dinner. Unfortunately, I do not remember the names of the other IM folks there - I do recall that there was this wonderful lady who had brought some delicious sweets. There was this other person from the UK who was telling us interesting episodes, more like a Harlequin novel
![]() Please don't mention the name Paradise - I am still very disappointed with the quality of their biryani. Cheers Nattusbs |

![]() It sounds nice and I think I'll book it for the first few days of my next visit and extend it if I like it. I have a Reliant mobile modem that should do me when I'm not in the office. I've experienced the traffic on SP Road! Not to be missed as an Indian experience. |

Oh.. Yatri Nivas! My first night alone in Hyderabad (well, Secunderbad)was here, before I started my internship and my first real encounter with India. (Had visited the north for three weeks 4 years earlier on a group tour). Brings back good memories. I remember that I went to the pub for a beer the first night and was invited to join a group of women from a Women's empowerment organisation. Was great fun!

hello...i am organising a trip for few of my friends from New zealand....heard about this place. It seems very affordable, but is it a decent place for westerners to stay for 3 or four days ??... does any one have pictures of this place like rooms, etc. ...and are there shops or malls in walking distance ??

I stayed there for 2 weeks in early November. The rooms are clean and comfortable and a good bargain at Rs 1400 for an A/C double. There are 3 restaurants to choose from. It's a large complex and quite busy with locals and Indian businessmen. Not a lot of westerners there, but I've found the $100-200 a night "western-style" hotels in Hyderabad to be really poor value. I'll be staying there again.
Lots of shops and a few shopping centres both east and west on SP road. You probably don't want to walk there because the road is insane with no sidewalks, but a rickshaw won't cost more than Rs20. |

How difficult is it to get from here to the historic sites of the city ?
Also to get out to Golconda is it best to take a taxi from the hotel ? |

Yatri Nivas is at the north end of the lake. Charminar, the mosque, the museums and the old city are to the south of the lake, about 20 minutes drive away, maybe 40 in rush hour. Golconda's way off to the west and you'll need to take a car or rickshaw to get there.
