Vizag

Hey everybody,
I am still putting finishing details on a South India trip for next January, but I have some questions about places to go in Andhra Pradesh. I study mridangam, and my guru is from Andhra, so I would like to go visit his home town (Guntur I believe. His surnam is Tumuluri), but I am looking for some possible destinations after that. I have been looking at possibly staying in Vizag, and was wondering if anyone can give me some insight. Are there any homestays there or cheaper accomadations? Is there somewhere else that might be worth going to instead? Basically just general questions about Vizag.

Vizag is worth a day or two and the Araku Valley is good for a couple more. The train ride out there is nice. Check the threads listed below for more info.

sorry for the delay everybody. Thank you so much though. It looks like I have to rework things a little bit, bcause a friend of mine from Delhi will be meeting us in Hyderabad first, but I definitely want to get out to the coast.

hi tburton,
May be my suggestion is late for your post. theres a place called ' TYDA' near vizag on the way to araku. APTDC has its jungle resort 'TYDA JUNGLE BELLS' . If you love greenery and jungle it is worth staying for a day. You can enjoy stay at 'log hut', bird watching along with a 4km walk around the jungle, Dhimsa dance with a bonfire. thanks
