Question Vizag-Araku or Hampi ?

Hi
We are planning to make a 4 day driving holiday from Hyderabad on the diwali weekend. The options are
  1. Vizag-Araku
  2. Hampi

Are there any special events at Vizag-Araku or Hampi during diwali?

Please put forward your suggestions.

Voted Hampi.

Caution: The Gooty/Hampi road is usually terrible after Bellary. Options are go Sholapur/Bijapur (good for half a day to a day)/Hampi

Alternative route: Hyderabad/Mahboobnagar/Raichur/Gangavati(?)/Hampi. NH till Mahboobnagar.

Roads may not be too good after the monsoons. If I didnt know the present condition, I would probably go via Bijapur, even though it is a little longer.

mapmyindia.comgives the route as Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Mahbubnagar-Raichur-Sindhur-Gangawati-Hampi. (dist: 368 KM)

Route via Solapur-Bijapur is 609 Km. I will plan the return journey via Solapur-Bijapur in case I decide to visit Badami also.

I am aware that the Gotty route is terrible after Bellary.

I didn't realise the difference (368 vs 609) was that much, sorry.

In 2005, we went via Bijapur, and returned via Raichur. The road on return was really bad, really shook up my poor car. But an earlier trip was decent, so I guess monsoons play a large part.

I went once via Gooty. Would never do it again unless somebody tells me the road is fixed. Its all those iron ore(?) trucks around Bellary.
