Tirupati Balaji Darshan

Hello Friends,
I recently relocated to Bangalore from Delhi.Now I want to visit Tirupati Balaji for darshan.
Please suggest best way for darshan from Banglore Train or Buses ?
where to take hotel in Tirumala ?
I heard the darshan is based on what line you are in? What you guys suggest ?

hi there are two options to plan to tirupati

1. take a package tour from bangalore offered frm many travel agents and ksrtc and kstdc

kstdc is the best as per my experience.
it shall cost yu 1500 Rs/person. this includes traveling cost, accomadation (few hours), darshan and laddu.

it is the convineint way if yu are with family and visiting first time.

the whole tour is about 24 hours starts at 10.00 pm from bangalore and ends 7.00 pm next day.

2. you can plan yur journey in advance (minimum 3 weeks )
you can book your darshan from bangalore itself in TTD office in sadhashivanager. (tel. 08023315361)
to book the darshan yu should take along with you all the people going for darshan. if yu are planning two months before yu can also book the rooms in TTD guests house in tirumala from bangalore itself.

(the hill on which temple is there is called tirumala... there is no other hotel avilables other than TTD guests house and few math on tirumala..)

if yu cant book rooms from bangalore then yu cam either stay thre in tirupati (this is city down the hills.. temple is abt 18 kms from here). or go to tirumala and take TTD guests house, which yu can get by little effort of standing in que for few hours (2-3).

there are 3 trains from bangalore to tirupati.. but the ,ost convincing is mysore-tirupati fast passenger (train no 213/214), which starts here at 8.00pm and reaches tirupati at 6.00am

there are buses from KSRTC and APSRTC 24 hrs a day . but if yu need to travel through volvo or other luxuary buses yu need to reserve well in advance.

darshan wise Rs.50 darshan is fine... which is the only one yu can book from banglore.
while booking yu can choose the darshan timings so that they suit yur train/bus timings.

from tirupati to tirumala.. yu can either take buses/jeep available who charge abt Rs.30
or yu can walk the steps to reach tirumala..(this is abt 16 kms... 3500 steps and other well cemented road) this will take abt 4 hrs for the first timers.yu have shops toilets and drinking water available through out the steps.

if yu are climbing the steps then yu need not carry your luggage with yu . yucan handover luggage to TTD office in beginning of steps , they will handover itto yu at end of steps in tirupati.

but if yu go to tirupati without booking yur darshan then yu can also opt for Rs.200 darshan which will be little convininient then Rs.50

You can go by bus or train. There are 2 trains each from Bangalore cantt. & Yashwantpur stations.

Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam Trust (TTD) has an office in Bangalore. You may contact them on 080-23445432/23315361.

In Tirumala you can stay in TTD cottages, which can be booked online also.

There is a free queue as well as a payment queue also.....

TTD has started this Queue Management System a couple of years back. The information is as follows.
Tirumala possibly has the most elaborate arrangement in India to sequence and guide visiting devotees through the holy shrine. Due to the ever increasing rush of devotees during all 365 days in a year, the temple authorities have set up a virtual queue system. This has resulted in a steep drop in time that individual devotees need to spend within the Queue Complex leading to the main temple, from the earlier 6 to 8 hours by the early 1990s to about one to one and half hours typically.

There are two kinds of Darshan (meaning a glimpse of the Lord) at the temple. One is Dharma Darshanam - free, and usually taking 10 hours from the time you enter the Queue Complex - and the other is Sudarshanam - costing Rs. 50, and taking about 3-4 hours. There are also some more expensive options where the time taken is lower, such as the Nija Pada Darshanam costing Rs. 100.

Individual devotees for Sudarshanam are required to register at any of the many queue offices situated near the main shrine, at the local rail and bus stations in Tirumala and Tirupati, or at TTD offices in other key cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. At registration, devotees can choose the expected date and time of entry into the Vaikuntam Queue Complex. At the time of registration, biometrics (finger printing and photo) are administered to eliminate the involvement of middlemen. Devotees contributing for Special Darshan or Puja Darshan tickets are moved up the queue virtually as well as inside the temple complex though all devotees are treated equally from the point of entry into the sanctum sanctorum.

Typically, devotees spend between 1 and 12 hours going through the Queue complex, depending on the season and the amount they have paid. The delay increases during weekends, festival periods and special temple puja periods.

The Queue does not literally mean standing - these are huge halls in the complex each accommodating about 300 persons, where you can sit (and watch religious programs on a TV there which also telecasts rituals from inside the temple). There are toilets, and for those seeking the free Dharma Darsanam, free food (sambar rice / curd rice) and coffee/tea served every couple of hours.

Once the doors to the halls are opened, you join the actual queue, and it takes about 60-120 minutes (standing/walking now) to reach the sanctum sanctorum and have Darshan. Typically, you get to see the idol of the Lord for about 60 seconds, and there's hustling by the volunteers to ensure the queue progresses quickly.

even A.P.T.D.C. offers conducted tours of Tirumala from Bangalore. Fee Rs.1500/- per adult which includes Volvo A/c Coach return fare, Accommodation & AAD Darshan.

personally i feel AAD, Archana Anantara Darshan is the best of all darshans, as you can have a glimpse of God early in the morning, a bit leisurely.

For the first timers, package tour is always better. You can try your luck with KSTDC or else APTDC. this being a holiday season, you should act quickly.

APTDC Office in Bangalore is at 24/1, Race Course Road. their Ph.No.080-41136373.

So friends we are 7 guys ..brother-in-law,sister-in-law and her husband & 6 month old daughter,mother-in-law...

What do you suggest now ? sincce booking package tour would make sense? they dont want to travel in night ?

How is this plan ..start in morning around 8 AM from Bangalore from our owned booked vechile (Innova or similar kind of)..
How much time it would take to reach Tirumala? Can we reach Bangalore sameday by 12 mid-night after darshan ?

How is this plan sounds like?

hi.. chits.. its also a good idea if yu are around six to seven people travelling to tirupati.

if yu start around 7:00 am in morning you can reach thre by 01:00pm .
You book thedarshan from bangalore itself. you take the darshan at 3:00 pm,then yu can entre darshan premises between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, this will help yu both ways yu reach on time or due to some problem yu reach a little late.

you can finish darshan by 5:00 and start back from there to bangalore. and yu will surely reach bangalore by 12:00 midniight.. .

only constarint here is you have to book darshan from bangalore minimum three days in advance and people willing to have darshan should go to TTD bangalore for booking the darshan.

I would suggest do not try to complete the trip in a day. Stay in Tirupati for a day.

Yeah 1 day , do is doable but it will all rush and we cant enjoy the divine feeling..i will discuss with family lets see what they say...
How is the road from Bangalore to Tirumala ? Good ?

Route Map - JP Nagar-marathalli-hoskote-kolar - Mulbagal - Nangali - Palamner - Chittoor –Puralapattu-Chandragiri-Tirupati - Alipiri - Tirumala.

Eat outs –CCD (Kolar), Deepika Dhaba, Bheema’s Hotel, Annapoorneshwari, Bheema’s Deluxe Nandini hotel,Woodys Hotel and many road side dhabas,

Total Distance to and back around 600 kms

The road condition is good. Some time back there was construction work going on then it was bad.
