Tirupathi Rameswaram Visit Advice

Hi All,

am shortly planning a madurai - rameswaram-tirupati trip ex delhi. Need your quick advice on few issues

1. Is there a necessary religious order of visiting Tirupathi vs. Rameshwaram? I am planning my trip as madurai, rameswaram, tirupati because I am getting train availability from Rameswaram to Tirupati but not the other way around, but before booking I just wanted to be sure its okay to do the trip this way.

2. For some reasons mondays are the only days in the next few weeks that the trains from rameswaram to tirupati has availability. This train reaches tirupati on Tuesday morning. Is there a specific reason for easy availability? Am I missing some point here? As far as I know Tirumala temple is open on all days for darshan, so am wondering

3. Lastly, I might have to stay the night in Rameshwaram. Can someone please advice where one can stay the night if needed.

Thanks a lot for your help.

There is no order for visiting these temples. You can go and visit in any order

Tirumala temple is open on all days (18-20 hours per day)

But it is always better to avoid visiting Tirumala on Weekends. TUE, WED, THU should be less crowded

When you get down at railway station go to the nearest TTD counter and get token for darshan.

I hope you booked room for night stay at Tirumala

Thanks a lot for your response

1. I will be reaching Tirupati on a thursday afternoon (no option). Which means I will be able to darshan only on friday morning I assume. If we go to the counter by say 2:30 pm. on thursday, Can you let me know whether it will possible to get darshan tickets for thursday evening or will it be friday morning or evening? I tried to check for online booking, couldnt find any option. As of now I have kept my departure from tirumal on saturday morning, just to be safe, is that good enough
2. Havent booked yet for Tirumala night acco. Again checked online there is no availability. Pls advice where /how to book
3. I have now added Kanchipuram to my travel list. So we will first visit Tirupati, and then go to Kanchipuram. Is one day going to be enough for Kanchipuram?

Any other advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot for taking out the time to respond.

Hi shweta1,

you can book darshan / accommodation in advance at Tirumala.
http://www.ttdsevaonline.com/

Or you can visit any TTD office at Delhi or Madurai to book your darshan. That way you know your time.

Hope this helps

Thanks.

Any suggestions regarding the other queries?

I am worried that since I am reaching on thursday afternoon, will we be able to get darshan on friday, or will it be too crowded?

As suggested by sudarshan, visit TTD office in your city and get the token/accommdation for the day you are planning to visit.

If that is not possible still you may get the token's for friday darshan. Weekdays are relatively less crowded but nobody can guess the rush at Tirumala

For the Accommdation it is always better to have advance booking. If you don't have it it is better to stay at tirupati on Thu night and then to go to Tirumala next day morning. Otherwise you can directly go to Tirumala and then try your luck for the accommdation

One day should be enough for visiting the main temples in Kanchi

Kanchipuram can also be done en route - if you are driving from Tirupati to Chennai

There are lots of accommodations in Rameswaram.. If you want you can book TTDC hotel online or from Delhi office their AC rooms are all sea View.. but still check again before confirming..

At Kanchipuram, you can easily hire an auto for 3 hrs or so to visit the main temples and they take you to some shopping like every tourist guy does.

But, you can refuse shopping, though it is famous for silk sarees (of the expensive variety but they come with quality).

Thanks all for your responses. Now some more questions

- Would accommodation be easily available in kanchi. Any suggestions?
- There are so many temples in Kanchi - that its difficult to decide where all to go. As of now I am aiming for - kamsakshi Amman temple, Sri Ekambareswarar Temple, Kailashnatha Temple, Sri Varadaraja Perumal and Vaikunta Perumal Temple. Any suggestions to add/modify?
- Are shops open on sunday in kanchi

----------------
I went to the TTD office in Delhi. For reference of others am sharing details herewith
- Location at Andhra Bhwana, 1, Ashok Road New Delhi. Phone for the TTD info counter is
011- 23385248. Tuesdays is closed, as I painfully learnt! (Hailey road address is the wrong/old address)
- To pick tickets for darshan, all people who are travelling need to physically go, since they take fingerprints. For senior citizens there are special queues released at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m, this queue is free, no advance booking neeeded.

If you want a hassle free darshan take the day trip organized by TTDC or APTDC. They would organize the darshan for you.
