Hi
I am an artist planning a trip to AP,Orissa, and West Bengal for 4 months. (I have already visited other parts of India on 3 separate extended painting trips.) I am particularly interested in painting people in their local dress rather than westernized dress (but not in painting landscapes or animals).
Can anyone recommend some exceptional places for this activity in these states.

Outside of the large cities(kolkata, hyderabad, vizag, bhuvanshwar) almost all women will be in non-westernized dress.

Most Men are dressed in trousers/shirts in semi urban/urban areas.

I saw the paintings you uploaded a couple of days ago, amazing paintings.

A good place to start would be to look through Jorge Reverter's photos, he has some wonderful photos of people, and he gets to many 'off the beaten track' places.

Try the photo search page, that may help, and consider adding the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh to your list of places to be visited.

Thanks steven ber. Jorge's photos are absolutely wonderful. a few there I would really love to paint. How would I get permission in the unlikely event I do so at some point.

hey how is life? good to know you want to explore india as an artist. weli saw your paintings. and very much impressed by the draparry and the details. as you want to do paintings and photography of people in india, its better to have a local with you.so that it will be easy for you to understand the people and get your work done smoothly.
well i am an artist and staying in hyderabad. and doing a research on 'artists visiting india'.If you can able to exchange your ideas and views about india and your experience as an artists it will be great.
