i just wish they'd figure out regular specific airport/town/airport bus services when they were thinking of these airports.
the new bangalore airport is also 40kms away - if not more.

its kinda ok if your office is footing all them bills - but its a total rip-off for folks who avail of the cheap-fare flights.

BLR/BOM price of ticket - 2,500
ride to the airport - anything between 700 - 1k [i'm guessing]
airport tax - 600
and then if your flight is delayed - hmm - coffee/meal

so we're back where we began - flying aint as cheap - yet again.

You are right Brishti. flying isnt getting cheaper.

But to be fair to Hyd airport folks, they have made sure that regular airport-city buses are available. And you can catch them bang next to the arrival area as well. The bus fare is 95 Rs, and buses leave every 30 min to 5-6 points within the city. These are nice airconditioned buses, some of them Volvos.

Oh and the APSRTC buses can take you to the city at much cheaper prices, but you will have to walk some distance to reach their parking bay, and they do stop to pick up and drop passengers on route- so their running time is much longer. The airport buses, on the other hand, stop only at the final destination.

Went to the airport at 5.30pm on a weekday last week to pick up somebody, from around the Hyderabad Public school

55 mins going, 60 returning.

And I saw a coffee vending machine outside the arrivals - 10 rupees.
