Narsapur?

I am planning on visiting Narsapur to look at an orphange for possible funding in Late November or early December, I have not found very much information on that town, can someone tell me anything that would be helpful about it.

Where to stay, personal safety in that town, any other information would be helpful.

Narsapur isn't exactly a tourist town though the nearby Antarvedi is a pilgrim's place (and very beautiful with the Godavari entering the Bay of Bengal right here). So you would not find the kind of accomodation that you find in cities. But being in the Konaseema rice belt of West godavari, this town is prosperous enough. Then again, do not expect the same things as in big cities. You can opt to stay at Bhimavaram. Bhimavaram has Hotel Rathnam.

Narsapur is famous for its lace industry. It is a laid back town. So is entire Konaseema region. The area is green and pleasant with lots of cocnut trees and rice cultivation. Food is spicy and delicious. Do not worry about personal safety for this region is quite peaceful.

Get down at Hyderabad by flight and catch the "Narsapur Express" an overnight train that lands you in the town by morning. Bhimavaram is the nearest decent town with good hotel. I doubt if Narsapur has any worthwhile hotel

From Madras, you have Circar Express upto Bhimavaram.
From Bangalore, you have Seshadri Express upto Bhimavaram.
From Visakhapatnam, you have a convenient over-night Passenger to Narsapur.
From, Hyderabad you have a convenient overnight express to Narsapur, and also a little inconvenient semi-overnight Express upto Bhimavaram.
All these trains are 'daily'. All these trains carry 2A and 3A Coaches and in addition you also have IA in Narsapur Express, with the exception overnight passenger running between Visakhapatnam and Narsapur.

In Narsapur, there is a Hotel Madhuri in the Town Area which is said to be a ""not-bad hotel"" with AC Accomodation. Narsapur Railway Station is at one end of the town area and this Hotel would be around 3 Kms. away from Station. Just 10- Kms short of Narsapur, there is another called palakollu where there is Hotel Vebnus which is said to be ""good"".

I can't find my info at the moment, but I thought the pass. from Vizag was an afternoon or evening train (not running overnight), and the return train went overnight from Narsapur to Vizag.

I could be wrong, it's been a couple of months since I looked at that info.

Hotel Madhuri....yes someone suggested it to me the other day....sounds like an OK thing. I bet the rates are a hoot...I have had price shock in these parts especially after coming down from Bangalore. Apparently I had a super shock in Kakinada over a plate of non-veg thali...it offered every kind of conventional Indian non vegetarian fare (C,M,F and Egg with crab and prawn fry) at a ridiculous rate of Rs. 50/- per plate. Being a veg...I could only rue at the VFM of the non Veg thali for the Veg thali was at 25 Rs (nevertheless a huge amount of food fit for Bakasuras in it)
