Land instead of dowry!

Sir,
I married without taking dowry, I even warned my in-laws not to raise that issue either before me or in my absentia. In fact, I want register marriage. My elder women wanted a traditional marriage. But I filtered all the unnecessary customs and traditions, but allowed very simple marriage. Now I am working as Sales Officer in a Real Estate Company and promoting, writing letters to several people to Book a land for Residence to the daughters, instead of giving dowry. I am waiting for public response. 9866270103. If any body understood the relevance of my this comment or letters, please come forward.
Gifting a plot for daughter, in place of dowry could enhance her marital stability. Just giving dowry may push her life in jeopardy if she don't have fixed assets. Not all the families will have ancestral property to give equal share to their daugher, if so , book a plot in Janaharsha, near Proposal Outer Ring Road, behind Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad....!! The cost of the yard is relatively low now compared to other parts of the city. In future, the money invested on land here, will be very very high.

mr vachaspathi..

welcome to indiamike~ while we focus on travel here, there are plenty of discussions on societal issues as well

i want to commend you on your stance for not taking dowry. however i would hope you would extend your logic to land as well~..this whole act of parents providing dowry for their girl child should stop! voluntarily fine..do whatever but forcing someone do it..or making demands is ridiculous! and is llegal...and as many cases have happened..you can call the police immediately...and these guys will be jailed!

i see why they [bridal families] did initially/historically [and voluntarily] in the sense in case of some emergency, the gold provided as a 'gift' during the marriage could be used for instant cash but as the case with so many customs, this got abused and crooked groom families [and many times potential mother-in-laws themselves] took it a whole new level.

land prices are increasing at a atrocious rate...so its next to impossible for parents to provide for land as a 'gift' and its absolutely ridiculous to pass this as an alternative like you are suggesting regardless of whether land is cheap or expensive! what stops the land from being taken over by say an abusive in-laws?...as with all the jewellery or anything else...

i think as our laws have made it illegal, we really must strive to bring these crooks who demand dowry to the police...its gotten much better in these times...we have an activist media..there are women only police stations..phone hotllines what not?. and there are many social organizations that help!

you are a builder or sales person for a builder...why link up dowry or marital gift as you call it to get more business for you?..you are encouraging dowry by doing this........
