You'll notice there is no info regarding where the houseboat begins it's journey, at least I've not noticed any.
I researched this trip a few years ago, but won't get there till late November/early december this year. My research suggested the houseboat starts it's journey at a place called Dindi, next to the Narsapur side of the bridge towards Razole, the AP tourism board are said to have opened a tourist guesthouse in Dindi. (I've got the guesthouse's telephone number somewhere) EDITED to add...Dindi tour resort manager - telephone 984 878 0524 I get confused when I try to research this houseboat because there are so many other boats that do river tours from Rajamundry, so no matter what I find out, I'll still head to Dindi at some point in my trip, and although I'm 90% sure I know where Dindi is located, I've not seen the place on any map. You may want to read the following thread. Bhadrachalam to Rajahmundry by River Steamer There is also said to be a great beach (with hotels) about 20kms from Narsapur.

If you go to http://www.mapmyindia.com/ and type "Dindi, Andhra pradesh" in the search box on top, you will get (on the left hand side) a list with many options/similar places, but the top two options.. one is Dindi in Guntur, and one in Vizag. Click. On this site, you can zoom in/out, find driving directions etc too.. use the right click button for some more options. Dindi is a river, too. |

Steven
I have been following the other thread and it has left me utterly confused. All the house boat trips being discussed there do not match the one in my link. This one costs 5000 rupees . this boat has got two rooms and the room surprisingly looks very good. I am particularly interested in doing this one as i am looking for a trip with some peace and quiet and not one with loud film music blaring away...i have been trying to call aptdc and i get no response |

If you look at the link below, follow the road east from Palacole (Palakollu), then where the road hits the river, that's where I beleive Dindi is.

I edited my earlier post to include the telephone number of the Dindi tour resort manager, that's where I beleive the tours start from (the place was built to give people somewhere to stay before/after the houseboat), try that number and see if you can get any more info. |

Looks good.
The rates are excluding food. Otherwise the rates are reasonable (One bedroom is for Rs. 2520/-) Ronak. |

I just called and got through first time, however, the man who answered didn't speak much English. He said it was Dindi tour resort, but he may have just been repeating my words (I've had this before). Can someone who speaks Telegu call and ask the location of Dindi and if that's where the houseboats start from? |

Mr Suryanarayana is the guy at the other end of the phone.
Dindi is 16km from Palakolu (Edit, had some doubts whether I heard 16 or 60, line wasnt too good so tried calling him again, no reply. But cant be more than 60, since that was spoken in English) Take Narsapur express from Hyderabad according to him and get down at Palakolu. The houseboat starts from there. He speaks Hindi, which is just as well, coz my Telegu is Telible. Btw he speaks English too. The accents either way may have thrown all parties. |
