Kalahasthi to Thiruthani

We are planning to visit Kalahasthi after staying over at Tirupati. How far is thiruthani from Kalahasthi and the distance from Tirupati. Can a one day trip be sufficient to cover kalahasthi - thiruthani and back to Tirupati.

The distance between tirupathi to kalahasti is around 35 kms and from kalahasti to tiruthani it is roughly 90 kms. If yes can hire a vehicle you can visit all these places in one day.

Don't know about Thiruthani. But in a car we've travelled from Tirumala - kalahasti and finished up a pooja there and got back to Tirupati in about 3 hours or so.

@Karthik,

Kalahasti predominantly is meant for "Dosha Parihara" and no normal aarathi Or Archanai done there [ Atleast that's what My experience ].

From Tirupathi, Buses are so frequent to Kalahasti and if you tell you need to visit the temple, bus will drop you at one point from where Autos / Horse carts are available - 15 rs]

Once you are done , you could visit thiruthani and if you are not aware you need to climb up for this temple and probably you could spend that night there in thiruthani before getting back to Thirupathi.

In One day, it could be rushing and uncomfortable too !

When you are planning for this trip I am not sure If it's between March Mid - June mid , it will be unbearably hot in all these places !

Hope this helps

Thanks to all for the views. It is indeed helpful.
Dear Mr. Velu, It is very nice of you to have pointed out the heat factor. We are traveling in the last week of March and guess it would be hot. I also have senior citizens traveling with us. Why we wanted to pack the schedule in one day was that, the next day we have a train back to Mumbai. Guess we need to cover Thiruthani the next time and plan accordingly.
Just wanted to understand if Kalahasthi and Thiruthani are in the same direction from Tirupati.

From tirupathi you have to travel towards north to reach kalahasti and travel east wards to reach thiruthani.

Karthik ,it's not exactly on same direction from Tirupathi but Tirupathi - Chennai bound buses touch any one of the place invariably !. Basically Andhra Government buses take Kalahasti route to reach chennai and Tamilnadu Government buses take Tiruthani route to reach chennai !

If you are planning to take a Cab, both are doable on a day. If you want to do it in budget [ I mean Public bus], My suggestion is Skip either of one to enjoy the trip !. I did not travelled between Tiruthani and Sri Kalahasti till now and i am not sure on the bus frequency on this circuit . Please take a call once you reach kalahasti [Based On Bus Frequency and Travel time involved]

In Short , Tiruthani is just 2 hours from Tirupathi by bus & Sri Kalahasti is around 1 hour from Tirupathi !

Have a Pleasant and Fantastic Pilgrimage !

Thanks for all the information and the best wishes for the pilgrimage. It is indeed very valuable.

I did a quick search on Google Earth and exactly got the direction. It is interesting to note the excellent connectivity of the buses from these tourist places.

As suggested we would decide after we come down to tirupati, whether to undertake the thiruthani visit or postpone it to the next visit.

Thanks for all the help once again...

We had a great trip. We visited Tirumala on 23rd March and we had booked the Archana Anantara Seva (AAD) for 24th March from Mumbai itself 60 days in advance. I am told that there are counters in every city that issue these limited tickets. So our darshan was very organized and good. It took us 55-60 mins for the darshan. No hurry no pushing. One thing I was given to understand that the days adjoining UGADI i.e. 3 days before, there is a process of cleaning the temple; around this time there are no sevas. Hence one could plan accordingly.

We hired a Sumo outside Tirupati station which cost us Rs. 800/- all incl, for a trip to Kalahasthi and Mangapuram. We left at 11 and were back by 3.30 at the hotel. It was very hot but inside the temple they have air coolers which are very soothing. One should not miss the prasad for sale at Kalahasthi it is simply awesome.

It is sad that there are no good hotels at Tirupati. We were put up at Sindhuri Park. Although the hotel calls itself 3* facilities were just ok. I wonder how the others would be...

Thanks for your inputs it was very helpful.

Hi,

Tirupathi has good Hotels. Probably you missed it out. I understand that there are no private or star rated hotels in Tirumala hills but in tirupathi you have the following...

Bhimas Paradise
Bhimas Residency
Fortune Kences
Hotel Bliss
Mayura International

There is a high chance you have missed the others. I am not sure about Sindhuri Park but Bhimas, Bliss and Fortune Kences are good.

Regards
