Hyderabad to Udgir

Hi everyone..

I am supposed to travel to Udgir from Hyderabad to attend a wedding on 26th Novemeber. I plan to drive down to Udgir as the train timings are not very convenient. (train departs at 9:30 pm and reaches Udgir at 3:00 am in the morning)

I am not very sure how much is the distance from Hyd to Udgir, which route or the Highway to take to reach Udgir. Tried google. but couldnt find much details. can anyone please help..

A good route is

Hyderabad/Zaheerabad/Bidar/Bhalki/Udgir


Hyderabad/Z'bad is the Bombay Highway, NH9, 100km
After Z'bad, take a right off the national highway, Bidar is 35 km or so from Z'bad.

Bidar/Bhalki/Udgir is a stretch I have not done, looks like about 70km to me, I may be out a bit. (the road continues upto Ahmadpur, and is SH217-state highway217

So total 200km (or a little more). I would not expect this to take more than 5 hours driving time, excluding stops.

Hyd/Zaherrabad road is very good 1 1/2 hrs easy if you leave the city early, have done it in 1, too.
Zaheerabad/Bidar road is good
Bidar onwards is a minor State Highway, likely to be iffy, ask some drivers at Bidar about the condition.

If you have time

Zaheerabad nice Dhabas including the Deccan Development Society, DDS eating place, somewhere else on Indiamike too.

Bidar good for the fort, gurudwara (a very important one for the sikhs) and a chance to see some Bidri work being done in the home of this craft... many small workshops.
