Hyderabad Numaish

I just happen to be in in the city while the annual Exhibition is on, which found mention on a couple of websites. Is it worth a visit, for a couple of hours, say for people watching, etc ?

Huge open area, huge crowds.

Go early to avoid peak rush (say 4pm, it is peaceful then) , and be prepared to walk.

Yes, it is worth a visit specially if not seen before. Crowded, but not unruly.

This may be one of the last few of this open air type. There is a plan to make a huge mall and hold this indoors in the future, which is spoil all the fun.

That doesn't sound good.

Used to be be a fan of the Numaish / Exhibition when I was in school for the toys and the chat / fish fry and cutlet.

Later, in college, it was for the people watching........

It's been about 12 -15 years since I last went there.....

We used to go every year when the kids were younger. Often more than once.

Now, every couple of years.

The plan includes making multistoried parking et al.... I don't think I want to be there when it happens.

Then it'll be another ugly mall. Not 'Numaish'.

Whoever gets these ideas may as well make the whole city an indoor city, if the money is right.

On display and available are usually

-handicrafts and textiles, clothes and kitchenware, electronics, furniture etc etc from all over the country.. except for elephants, I think you get everything

-food stalls from many other parts of the country.

- ferris wheel and other rides for children, and consenting adults.

- stunts performed by crazy people in a car and a motorcylcle in an enclosed 'globe'

- many unique and interesting looking things which are bought and never used

Can easily take you a few hours to walk around. Gets 2.5 million visitors, 2600 stalls
