Food at Tirumala
Hi All
I am travelling to Tirumala in next week after a significant gap. I have heard that the TTD has put up pricing restrictions on the food served some time back, due to which the quality of the food has suffered. Given the above situation, can u suggest any hotel which still serves good quality food ? Earlier, they used to serve food in banana leaves in typical andhra style...not sure if they do still. Pls do suggest if you know of such places. I believe some people set up hotels at home itself. Any such suggestions are also welcome provided the setup is very gygienic. Best Murali |

Here's the thing....

I was in Tirumala about 6 weeks ago, and I couldn't exactly remember the name of the place where we ate at, but its a huge two story restaurant that was always packed, and although the food wasnt all that great it was pretty decent, and i'd say as hygienic as you can get in Tirumala, it's supposedly the best in Tirumala so if just any street vendor, he'd happily point you in the right direction. But if you are open to suggestions, what I'd suggest you try out would be for you to try to get to the temple before 9 AM and finish up everything and get out by about 4PM or so, and then you can just come back down to Tirupati, where you have a wider choice of restaurants, and the food is actually quite good and its hygienic as well!

I am staying in Tirumala for 3 days,so coming down to tirupati is ruled out. I wish you had remembered the name of the restaurant you had food at. |

Of the few privately owned restaurants in Tirumala, I've liked Mayura, that may be the one Ignite is reffering to. Their Pongal is terrific.
In Tirupati, Bheema's and again Mayura are better places to eat, imho. |
