Do you live in Hyderabad? Can you please help me get my money back

Dear fellow IMERS
I am asking a big favour and wondered if anyone living in the Hyderabad area can help me please?
My name is Karen and I live in Mount Gambier, South Australia. I have been on India Mike before as Roowie and posted threads but have'nt been able to access my password for a while. The instructions for new p/words didn't work so am trying this approach, by re registering.
I have been ripped off by a company called GVK Enterprises,A-505, Vamsi Enclave, Snehapuri Colony, Motinagar HYDERABAD - 500018
Ph: 00919246177448/0091-40-65593272.
This is a cake decorating company and it's web address is www.icingsheet.com. I have been buying Choco Sheets from this man Vijay Kumar for my cake decorating hobby. The first 2 purchases I made from Vijay who manages this company, went quite smoothly with no hassles. I then sent an email 22/7/07 ordering more of the sheets and sent money via Western Union transfer (AUD $202.20) as I had done previously. On 19/7/2007 he responded that he'd received the money and my shipment would be sent in 48 hours.
It is now 016/10/2007 and I still don't have my Choco Sheets. I have emailed him on many occasions and sometimes he has replied, promising me he would send them in the next day or two. (He was having problems with the Dark Choco Sheets and they were trying to improve the quality) but again, that was weeks ago! I phoned him a couple of months ago and again he promised I would have them soon.
Please can anyone help me? He won't even respond to my emails now or answer the phone. I have tried using the phone numbers above as advertised on his website . The phones ring and ring but are not answered. My daughter who lives in Adelaide pretended to be a new customer and he's responding to her emails. From my reasearch on his website this business looked quite professional.
The other issue is that he published a testimonal page on his site using my photos without my permission advertising the use of his products.
Please if anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it.
I really do want the Choco Sheets or my money back!! My family can't afford to lose this much money.
Regards Karen

Karen, I just dialled both those numbers.

The landline number has been 'temporarily disconnected', which may indicate bills have not been paid.

The cellphone number gives a funny signal, it seems it is not in use, if it was just switched off or out of range I should have got a recording.

I fear the company may not exist anymore, either.

Thank you Capt Mahajan for taking the time to try the phones for me. I've found the Indian phone companies and their operator messages to be quite tricky at the best of times. I'm just hopeful that he might get "sprung" as it's obvious he's still trying to con others. Regards Karen

Hello Nycank
Thanks to you also, for your post. The $202AUS would have got me 200 of the choco sheets. These sheets are used to print photos onto chocolate (or any image that is able to be printed from a computer). If you've checked out the website, you may have seen some of my cakes are shown there (illegally) with photos printed on chocolate, using food colourings.
I guess I'm feeling outraged that he's done this to me but I will try every avenue I can think of before I give up!!
Cheers for now
Karen

In January of this year, after months of requests, posts like this one above, complaints I made to Indian consulates and to the Indian export board, I FINALLY received the Choco Sheets I had paid for. Now I'm being sent emails from this person wanting me to lift/remove emails like this one, so he can get on with business. I find it amusing! Thank you for those who did assist me at the time. I never gave up and I WON!! Goodbye Vijay!

Chalk-up one for the (initally) ripped-off tourist.

I'm impressed with your tenacity and the methods of following up.

Now, if only the Swedish lady who lost EU30,000 in her gem scam could do the same...

Cheers

Ditto in spades for the first. Great work there! But, the second case involves culpability that the "victim" doesn't seem to be willing to face up to. Despite the difference in amounts I sympathize more with the aggrieved customer than the conspirator. Admittedly, I am still stunned by the extent of her loss (and so happy its not another americano)..

Incidentally, the OP's hobby is quite interesting. Some people have developed this into business for corporate novelties. I forget the trade term..

Premium ... that's the term for corporate novelties, as in "Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair" (for which I frequently do work!)
