Chinnaganjam

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to visit Prakasham district, to check out Chandavaram, Kanuparthy, Uppugundur and Chinnaganjam. The last two places are railheads between Chiralla and Ongole, and there are plenty of trains to choose from. I'm wondering though what the accommodation situation would be like - could stay at Bapatla-Suryalanka I suppose, but it might be a bit stormy perhaps on the beach in October? There seem to be some lodges and hotels in Ongole. But I don't know about Chiralla, let alone these smaller places.

Has anyone been this way or would anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any feedback

Looks like I'll be writing a trip report on this one. But just in case there's an IM-er out there itching to go visit this area to see its ancient Buddhist stupa ruins etc.. here's some accommodation info to keep in mind.

The sites are between two railway stations, Chirala and Ongole - so it's not too hard to get there, plus there are plenty of buses from both towns. I'd include the link, except it brought a malware attack on my laptop. Now, the good news, both Ongole and Chirala railway stations have retiring rooms.

Chirala has 1 non-AC double and 1 non-AC single, Rs 100 and 50 respectively.

Ongole has 4 non-Ac doubles at Rs 100

Railways retiring rooms are handy for these stations because a few of the interstate trains pass through at very late/early hours. Scoring one of these rooms might be easier at those awful times - I've never had any luck scoring a retiring room, always 'full" they say..... but you could be lucky

even during cyclone it is extremely safe to say in suryalanka. that doesn't bother us much and cyclones are very rare on the east coast. you can also get beach resorts near ramapuram , chirala. and also one can et medium priced hotels in chirala.
