I have also gone through the list of ""Sub-Forums""(State-wise) where Andhra Pradesh has been excluded.

Thanks.
I was looking for Andra Pradesh and Hyderabad one day, because I plan to visit a friend there next autumn / winter, but because I'm a newbie
I dared not to ask why they have been excluded (I thought there may have been a good reason for the exclusion.)

vsp27759, welcome to IndiaMike. I saw your intro thread and it is very good to read your posts. Actually, I have always felt Andhra to be the most 'boring' state. I believe even today, (all without doing proper research
) that Andhra has no forests, 'good' beaches or mountains. There are a couple of seasonal rivers, I guess. Otherwise, nothing at all. I would be happy if, without taking offense you could suggest some places and correct me.
My guess is, for no fault of anybody, Andhra, kind of had a raw deal, just dry land.
I know about
1) Some nice caves near Vizag
2) A river cruise in Narmada
Anything else to do.

Yeah I guess. Silly me. Let me check then. Its been on my to do list in Andhra. It is supposedly through a densely vegetated area in Andhra but can't search now. I will check at leisure and correct it.
So the river is Godavari. The place is near Yanam. I hear good things about it.

This site says it runs through mangrove forests
. That should be something.

Andhra Pickle
Growing up in TN & Karnataka, we always apprecaited Andhra food. You know that every conversation with an Indian will end up on the subject of food.
Of course the Hyderbadi Biryani is to die for!. Andhra folks are also known for their extra hot (spicy) cuisine. And the pickles (especially mango) pickles are simply the best.
So enjoy the food of Andhra even if Andhra is not listed as a major destination.

I spent most of my first trip in Andhra Pradesh. I liked it. The part I was in was very peaceful and open and sort of old fashioned. The thing that really affected me were the dry river beds, made me think about how we take abundant water for granted in Canada (and how we waste it). The resevoir was dry too, three years of no monsoons, pretty brutal. Reminded me of Kalona without the lake, semi desert, lots of thorn bushes, but where people can find water to pump, lush rice paddies.

BTW, would it be possible/sensible to move some of the Andhra Pradesh / Hyderabad / & co. threads to the new Andh(a)ra Pradesh thread in "Minor Destinations"? E.g. from "Minor Destinations" / "Other Areas".
