Wish to marry in Andaman, help!
Hi everybody, I just found this forum and I absolutely love it!
Me and my boyfriend are from Sweden but are now living in Bangalore while working. We just decided to get married while living in India, and looked up Andaman island as a beautiful place. Unfortinately we have had a hard time finding someone to perform the ceremony, a pastor or a civil marriage registrar doesn't matter. We just want to perform the ceremony at a beautiful beach and make it legal in Sweden. Is there anybody who can help us out? Maybe you know of a christian church/priest or anything at Andaman island? Thank you so much in advance! Therese |

Hi Therese,
There are plenty of Christians in Port Blair and for sure some of them might be willing to oversee the procedure of a Christian marriage ceremony but i am completely ignorant of the law in India with regard to marriage. The real deal however is not so much the ceremony but the understanding of that which God(and by God i mean the God that is represented in the bible, the God of Abraham,Jacob,Moses,Jesus Christ etc)requires and expects of the couple that want to marry. If you want to contact me via a personal message(click on my name, look at my profile and find the personal message sending place)i would be happy to talk further with you about this. |

Tons of posts on this site (should be a whole branch for marriage and the lovelorn). You can access some of this at the bottom of the page. A registered marriage requires 30 day notice and as you recall you can only stay a limited period in the Andamans. A religious rite has little legal value but is faster..

Hi, thanks for the replys. We have checked out that we are allowed to get married but our main concern is getting in touch with somebody who can perform the ceremony. Does anybody know of a christian church at Andaman Island (Port Blair, Havelock...) or does anyone know of anybody who can perform a registrered marriage there?
