I spent 2 nights in Wandoor, I can't remember the name of the place I stayed, but it was probably Sanctuary, as there were no other places around.
Unless you're visiting the Mahatma Gandhi Marine NP, there's not much reason to go to Wandoor, the beaches are nothing special compared to the islands. As #2 says, regular buses from Port Blair take an hour and a half. |

We did the bustrip to Wandoor from PB late November, but didn't see and haven't heard of "The Sanctuary".
We stayed at the "Mangrove Bar", which seemed to be the only accomodation around. A couple of places at the beach nearby Wandoor "centre" (a handful of houses, a tea/snackbar, a small fishing harbour and a bus stop) was still closed after the tsunami. Mahatma Gandhi Marine NP was nothing, really. An hour or so on a touristferry from Wandoor and then five minutes in a tiny overcrowded (7-8 people) rowboat with glasbottom. Not much to see as most of the corals were destroyed by the tsunami. After a couple of hours at a not-especially-nice islandbeach the ferry headed back to Wandoor. The nicest part was indeed our fellow travellers, all happy holidaymaking mainland-Indians who were thrilled by their (mostly) first experience with the ocean. Honestly, there are much better ways to spend your time and money than on a trip to Wandoor ![]() |

During our trip to Andamans we has alloted a day to Wandoor (Mahatma Gandhi Marine park). & we left Port blair pretty early to catch the ferry but as we reached the point where ferry was to start, the officer told us that we were late by 10 - 15 mins. However he did told us that there was another option near wandoor beach called Mahua dera beach. We did try out the same for Rs. 1000 = 00 for two of us including Dunghi & sorkelling equipments. It's about half an hour Dunghi ride from Wandoor beach. It was very isolated & there were hardly 10 people around. Also saw lots of Corals & fishes over there.
