Hello Experts,

We are a group of 9 people wish to visit Andamans this October(last week) We have 10 days at our disposal. Our queries are :-

1. Are 10 days good enough to cover all the touristy places ?
2. Chances of weather playing spoil sport
3. Rough itinerary
4. How to prebook ferry tickets i.e. advance booking of logistics
5. Accommodations at places within 2000 INR/night

A conducted tour by fair tour operators would have zeroed all these questions but we are keen to do it of our own not only to save a few bucks but also love to take the pain of planning it with all the possible flexibilities therein.

10 days are good enough to cover all the touristy places. Are you including north Andaman also?

Weather should be good in October.

Your plan is covering almost everything or is there anything left ? How about logistics, are you doing it of your own or have engaged any agency to do it for you ?

My plan is covering almost all the places that normal travelers go. I think we will contact any local travel agent of portblair for the ferry tickets. There is also a govt boat available from Rangat to Havelock I think.

We need to go Mount Harriet National Park also. Not sure how much time needed to cover that.

Just returned from there. It was raining on one day and visibility was low on couple of days! Weather and clouds are unpredictable. Port Blair attractions were closed on account of Shivratri on 14th! My planning over months could have been messed up - but thank God that we did 99% of what we planned!
Possible to plan on your own and do the bookings yourself, you can definitely save. The cheapest inter-island travel is by Govt ferries and they cant be booked online. To get from one place to another on land you need to hire a tourist van in each location (Havelock, Neil etc) as the attractions are scattered and public transport is scarce. May be you can book flights & hotels on your own and seek help for logistics and transport with an agency.
To answer your Questions
Q1. It will be hectic to cover all places in 10 days - plan what places you want to cover based how hectic you want your trip to be! We did 7 nights but restricted ourselves to Havelock, Neil and Port Blair (minimum time) for a relaxed trip
Q2. As mentioned above weather can play spoilsport anytime. Locals were surprised by Feb rains!
Q3. Decide places you want to visit and you can draft an itinerary
Q4. Prebooking ferry tickets online is possible by Makruzz, but it is costlier than Government ferry if cost is a consideration.
Q5. Accommodation: Dolphin resort in Havelock (Rs 2400 per night) and Hawabill nest in Neil (Rs1120 per night) will be in your budget as well provide decent accommodation. They cant be booked online. You will find plenty places in your budget in Port Blair. Do not know about Rangat, Diglipur etc.

Keep in mind that all Government run places like museums, cellular jail etc are closed on Mondays and Government holidays.
