Stay in Tents?
Hi everyone,
I'm planning my honeymoon trip to the Andaman Islands in December this year and I'm basically looking at budget accommodations. I thought about staying at Island Vinnie's in Havelock after going through their website. I've liked whatever I've seen on their website, the only problem is that, Island Vinnie's only seems to have tents from the photos that I have seen so far and I’m not sure about the privacy one would get in tents. What are your opinions? -Pushkar |

Thanks. Would've asked her if she knew anything about the tents in Havelock.
I'm basically looking for opinions from people who've been there and stayed in Island Vinnie's or anywhere else in tents to get an idea of how these tents are from security and privacy point of views. If anyone can send me some snaps, that would be great. -Pushkar |

I have stayed in tents and the better ones (with no more than 2 beds and completely enclosed) offer complete privacy provided other tents are not too close by. One major problem is that tents generally have shared toilets and bathrooms that could ruin romantic mood.
PS. Tents generally don't have locks or latches just zippable doors but peeping inside the tents should not be happening in reputed places. |

See, i have stayed with mom and sis on radha nagar beach - by far the best beach i've seen in my whole life (i've been to EU, singapore, indonesia, thailand, malaysia) and have traveled most states in india excl NE/orissa. You just keep odomos with you - otherwise a lovely place and decent loos etc.
YMMV. We went in dec 2003 (pre tsunami). Dolphin resort is simply mindblowing (didnt get reservations in time). The ones we stayed in, had a dedicated toilet - but you had to step out the back door and go to the toilet tent ![]() |

Some tents are better than others and will have triple walls, canvas, insulating and canvas. In the photos below these are triple walled tents with windows and doors that zip up. I have been in ones with much better furnishing than these.
Although I normally stay in the huts when they have them. Here the link to the tent photos, they are shot in 360° Virtual Reality, you can rotate them by clicking your mouse and dragging on them. Clicking on the red-dot (hot spot) takes you to the next photo. also these are best viewed in full screen, that button is on the bottom right. http://indiavrtours.com/alwar/sarisk...iew_camp4.html

Privacy issues are your apprehensions only. Why any one would be peeping inside a tent of a honeymoon couple. employees dare not and other guest would be busy with their own matters, should be decent enough not to indulge in such crazy activity of opening zipper of tent of some other couple. Off course there is remote possibility that some body returning, from Unattached bathroom in middle of night, trying to open zip of your tent, by mistake. Any way tents would be having some number system to avoid mistaken entry and bathrooms were unclothed ladies take shower would have guards around (I mean outside bathroom tent.) P.S. there must be some system indicating (some body inside) for common loo. I dread some body opening zipper of loo tent not knowing from outside when I am inside using it. ![]() |

why to stay in tents on honeymoon.i think they have decent rooms
also nearby and are priced very resonably.Tents etc. are things for adventourus kind and are not luxury anyway. If this place is offering luxury tents for honeymoon packages then they must be taking care of privacy part and also to some concerns of james. Phone to manager straight away and tell him about your concerns before booking, he would be the best man to answer all your queries. ![]() Last edited by cityMONK : Aug 27th, 2009 at 20:50. |

Why not take the bride to Neil Island and stay in the government guest house. It is a really nice place, great location, hot water 24/7,good food, immaculately clean, helpful staff, not expensive,a/c,and fairly sound proof. I imagine that most women would be well content to stay there.

I am gonna go to Neil Island and I've booked a room in the Hawabill Nest Guest House, although the Andaman Tourism guys say that they won't be able to confirm the room till mid-October since there is some island festival at that time...
In case I don't get a room in the Government Guest House, is there any other good and not-too-expensive resort at Neil Island? |

Hi Pushkar,Tango resort at Neil haven some nice new rooms with attached bathroom.Clean, tidy and affordable.
There are no tents on Neil Island,at least the last 2 seasons there have been none. There is also the Kingfisher hotel on Neil, but i think its a little more expensive than the resorts and not so romantic. ![]() |
