Hiring a bike is the most common way to travel in Havelock. I think it's 200 Rs per day plus fuel which should be max 50 Rs. Havelock has only 2 main roads and on both these is Bus service.Autos also ply but are costly. I have seen hordes of foreigners taking the bus to Beach No.7 which is the main destination on havelock. However, a majority hire bikes and speed thru the fascinating undulating hilly road through the deep tropical rain forest to Beach No.7.In Neil island , cycles are the most common mode of travel. I believe any hotel you are staying in the Andamans will arrange for Bike/Cycle in minutes.

Hi,

I was in Havelock and Port Blair in March this year and it was so cheap and easy to hire a bike. I hired a bike from my resort for 200 rs per day. In fact, on Havelock it is the most convenient way to travel as the auto drivers ask for lot of money.

Also, you can use the bike to go to beach No. 7 and to Kalapathar (elephant training camp)

Cheers,
Harsha

A scooter or motorbike is easy and cheap to rent most places in Andamans as mentioned earlier, and you are able to see more by bike.

But drive carefully as every season there are some accidents, and as the medical service is basic there has been evacuations which can become expensive. As long as you drive carefully and is sober you should be fine :-).

I agree, but i kinda get the feeling that bus and taxis aren't as available on Havelock than the rest of India
