Ok so the Andaman Islands have really struck my fancy. I have been reading up on them, but still have a few questions:
1) How do you actually go about getting permission to visit these Islands? 2) Is it worth it to visit in early May? Is the place open? Is it raining yet? 3) Starting and ending in Delhi, What is the minumum amount of time that should be alloted to travel to either Havelock or Neil Islands and return to Delhi? I wont have a lot of extra time, but I want this trip to be worth it. 4) Doing the absolute low end of everything food and accommodation wise(I'm on a student's budget) how much money should I be prepared to set aside for such a trip? I know this is early to start asking questions, but I leave for the first leg of my trip in less than a month and would like to have some idea of what is and is not viable/worth it down the road. Thanks for the Help!!! |

The flight costs are going to smash your budget to pieces. (search at www.ixigo.com using dates in May), The Island airport is Port Blair.
I'd imaging the flights will be busy, I think the monsoon hits the Islands in May, and the boats will then stop running, so this may push the flight prices higher. |

Lets say I could spend $300 for flights (which ultimately may or may not be true...I had been considering spending this money elsewhere, but nixed the old plan)...how much would food, lodging, and transportation cost on the island?
Also is there enough rain at the time to be considered a deterrent? |

Here's a good thread in this Forum re permit etc.:
Andamans Visa? also have a read of the first Thread (a 'sticky') in this Forum, called 'A few tips for the Andamans'. You might find most of your questions covered.
