Neil Island

Hi All,

I'm looking to book a room/hut/etc. on Neil Island for a week or so mid December. The trouble is, I can't seem to find any places with websites/e-mail addresses/phone numbers.

Does anyone know of any places that accept reservations?

Thanks in advance!

-Ryan.

hello sir,
Neil Island is a kind of turn up and take your pick situation.
In mid December last year there was plenty of accomodation available and i understand that there is one more camp open now as well as a hotel. You really donīt need to worry about booking.
See you there!

Thanks!

That is good to hear - I read about places like Havelock being booked solid around Christmas, and was worried Neil was the same.

As maps of Neil seem to be few and far between, I thought I would post this hand drawn one - courtesy of the charming and helpful Joy at the Green Heaven restaurant (in the West end of the Island).

CLICKY LINKY TO MAP OF NEIL ISLAND

The two main budget/packers resorts there are Pearl Park and Tango resorts at the west end of the Island.

During my stay at Neil, I checked all the options there.
Tango is one of the best option available there, but the Govt. Guesthouse there (I cant remember the name was the best). For that you need to get the booking done in advance from the PB itself.
Enjoy

Just for the record, the island that is know by some as "Little Neil" is officialy known as Sir Hugh Island. It is uninhabited and apparently has no sweet water source. I would like to go there but it is out of bounds for tourists.Maybe some James Bond 007 style character has a secret base there?

Here is Pearl Park Beach Resort (, where I stayed ) phone No. and email.

+91-3192- 282510
+91-3192- 233880

email :- pearlpark_2002@yahoo.co.in

Next to this resort there is "Tango Resort" . Both resort are on Beach No. 1 ( Next to beach )
I choose pearl park because it was listed in A & N tourism hotel list.

Yes Havelock being booked solid around Christmas, Also Neil Island because it has very few resorts.
In March , I got booking easily in Neil Island. But for Havlock booking, faced Hardtime.

Here is More list of pkg tour Operator ( whom , am meet during my visit ). They Might help you to book resort.

1) Nagomi Travels ( My driver Gave me this No. to prompt his visibility , how drove our car for 2 day in A& N )

Name Kavi
+91-9933264294 , 9933227077 , 9474211214

2) John , KV travel ( Whom , I meet during Baratang Visit at A&N )
+91 - 9933271342
+91-3192-240044

Hope this info will help you.

People are very helpful in A&N :-) , Most of the booking i did after Landing Port Blair :-) .
For Nov-Feb , one should do Adv Booking , these month suppose to Peak time.

Hi Virag, sorry to say but i think this post is a bit of scaremongery.. I imagine that you were told these things by your booking agency so that you would be sure to make a quick booking.Outside of the Christmas and newyear peak times there is no shortage of basic accomodation. If people are looking for high end stays, then they are fewer in quantity and may be more difficult to book. PLUS this year and the coming season will not be like years gone by. There is far less disposable money around and what money there is is being spent most carefully by the owners of it.The Andaman Islands is not immune from global tendancies.

Pls don't take me wrong , I just shared my experience. I collect some Number, so my Parent and brother will have hassle free visit there. I spent too much due to lack of info about A&N. My visit to A & N was impulsive(i.e. sudden decision without homework). Best hotel Barefoot@Havlock is expensive , where as A&N Tourism hotels are cost effective , but they are not online. In March I not got booking in Dolphin resort(Which located at Radhanagar beach). I paid more money and stayed in OK-OK resort that include Jeep cost too(which i found not needed, Better take bike/scooter or bus , I think Dolphin Resort has there own Mini Bus for Pick and Drop ).

In Niel island , I have not come across any good resort. There are very few resort. Also observe that very less local tourists on Neil Island. In Pearl Park resort and beach No1 , found that ,I was only local tourist :-) . But I enjoyed cycling there in Neil Island.
Due to Sun / tanning , my color become so dark that I have not posted my Neil Island photo :-)

Hello again Virag,I agree with you that A+N resort are very good, there is one of theirs on Neil Island also.Very good food, very clean and not expensive. My worry on this forum is that people will draw the wrong conclusions when people say "you must book early" or "everywhere is full at Christmas holiday time" and as a consequence will pay much more than they need to as a result of panicking that they may not have somewheres to sleep if they do not book soon. My first visit to Andaman was a bit tinted by people saying "nowhere to sleep unless you book".I booked the first 10 days and winged the next 20 with no difficulty whatever and left the day before Christmas.
So,i do hope you understand my point of view.Very best wishes to you. Martinez

Going alone - OK for females?H

There has been no mention by anybody as to how they got to Havelock. Is there a quick way to get there and back, and would that be Chennai to Port Blair to Havelock. There are many old postings about travel, but no new ones.
