Last year, the music scene was a cool Israeli guy called Ortal Pelleg who played an unusual instrument called a hung plus some digeridoos, and an Irish guy called Dangerous Dave (or similar) who did singer/songwriter originals and covers on an acoustic guitar. Occasionally they would be joined by a french DJ called Armond adding some electronic beats. Between the three of them, they would play either the Emerald Gecko or the Wild Orchid at irregular intervals, but roughly one a week.
But I think it was the musicians who did all the organising ('booking' the venue, printing flyers, getting the word out, etc). I don't think that there is an open house venue as such. Ortal's site is here - I'm sure he'd be willing to give you the inside track if you contacted him through it. http://www.myspace.com/didgwave |
