Kolkata to andaman in july?
Was just wondering if its possible to go to the islands in July by boat from Kolkata, or is this too crazy?
Also limited on time but im willing to give up Kerala and Goa to visit the Andamans... also does anyone have any information about the ship schedule from Kolkata to the island cos the most recent ones I found online are dated 2005! any information on possibility, ship, journey, weather and island itself would be very helpful! ![]() |

There are three to four sailings every month from Kolkata to Port Blair and vice-versa. The voyage takes about 50 to 60 hours and the ship normally berths at Port Blair for about two to four days. Further information on schedules and tariffs can be obtained from the office of Shipping Corporation of India Ltd, Kolkata 033-2482354,2488013.
Foreign nationals require a permit which can be obtained from: Indian Missions Overseas, Foreigner’s Registration Offices at Kolkata. Check this site for more info http://tourism.andaman.nic.in/

Dear Sandeep,
At this time Rajasthan will be hot and Andmans will be wet, so you can take your pick. My suggestion is to go for Rajasthan. If you get good monsoon then Lake Pichola at Udaipur would come to life. Mount Abu will be good. Jaipur will be hot but manageable. Jodhpur and Jaisalmer will be hotter than Jaipur, but Jodhpur fort is my favourite and Jaisalmer camel safaris are good fun. See what can you pack in these 9 days. |

delhiwala, sorry to say but current IMD forecasts look anything but ugly - monsoon is delayed and is under the expected amounts.
No way it'll be Rajasthan in this weather!!

@Sandy: I just happened to have the TV on in parallel - it showed 93% average precipitation as well as that by now it should've come till say Delhi, but the eastern arm of the monsoon is like still around kolkata!!
Check the news sites for more dope on the same. But coupled with what i've read recently about the udaipur lake - doesn't sound like its coming to its splendor anytime soon |

@hitanshu
Don't u think buddy that the monsoon should be there around mid-Aug in Rajasthan? My primary plan was to visit Rajasthan but later started thinking about Andamans as most of my friends were against Rajasthan due to the mercury stuff. @Delhiwala Did u had a look at my Rajasthan itenery? Awaiting ur suggestions (as usual) ![]() |
