IslandVinnie's Tropical Beach Cabanas

I found the place through DiveIndia and wondered if anyone had ever stayed there.

And does anyone have any experience in staying on Andamans long term. Like 1 or 2 months

Will there be enough for me to do to keep me activated, considering i will be working a bit when i'm there and also i'll be doing alot of diving.

Though we're kind limited when it comes to trekking and seightseeing since we'll be bringing our almost newly born daughter.

Would be better off, going to Goa?

Hi Goo,ivé spent a couple of months in the Andamans and shall endeavor to answer some of your questions. Sightseeing in the usual sense of the word is not really much of an option in the Andamans. The is the cellular jail at Port Blair,an island(maybe Ross island )that was the colonial main residential centre of the British overseers, organised tours in glass bottom boats to see the remains of what once was an incredible coral reef, and a few other thing. See andaman and nicobar administration website for more of that stuff. Will there be enough for you to do?..That depends what you want to do!If you wish to be entertained and stimulated by outside influences such as disco, bar room, entertainment, karooke etc, then you need to know that none of that exists. Diving, snorkelling, conversatio n,eating, star gazing, drinking in naturak beauty are the main pass times. Their are a few televisions here and there.
Goa has all this stuff minus the snorkelling and diving.Visibility in Goa is zero.A compromise between the two is Thailand, much safer(health care wise )for the baby.
The Andamans REALLY lack the emergency care facilities you would need if your child becomes unwell. All the best,Martinez

Cool, thanks for the info, i guess seightseeing is what i make of it. I might drive around on a bike and look for some good photos scenery.

Should i be concerned about the baby (health care wise)?

I figure that chances of catching malaria is higher in goa than in andamans.

Secondly diving is the factor that counts the most, other than that i will just be working, so it wont make that much a difference to me whether it's goa or anadamans when i work.

If you say diving options are better in Andamans, then that will be where we're going.

Thanks alot for your help man

Hi Goo,i think there were many posts somewhere on this forumm about baby health in the Andamans, sorry i do not have time to locate it for you. Malaria is worse in Andamans than Goa,but Andamans has a much healthier environment and better water.Good net protection is vital,as is a consultation with your medic for the childs benefit.

Unless you have some special arrangements, you will only get a permit to be there for 30 days. And work is hard to come by, again, unless you have some special arrangement in place... HTH
