Island ferries

Hi folks,
I vaguely recollect a ferry operating between Havelock and Neil islands once or twice a week, can anybody verify this? Days etc...?
Before anyone suggests a local dungie(small local fishing or commercial vessel) i should like to inform that the cops have put a stop to this method of transport from one island to another because of registration purposes. The cops meet the official ferry at whichever jetty and register the forigners disembarking and embarking.. Heavy fines are threatened to locals breaking these rules..
Thanks,Martinez

i was just on neil for 2 weeks and it seemed that one has to ask daily about the ferries and you may be told 4 different things but last night someone showed me the timetable set out for a few days in the chennai newspaper.
keep an eye out for the flying fish. they are only small but they zip over the water very efficiently and fast.

Not surprised. One hit me in the arm once and bruised it quite badly.

They can reach speeds of 50kmph (or was it miles, cant remember)

the lady who told me that was a biologist, so was slower

Amazing really, when you see hundreds of them flying like flat stones on the water, skipping.

Almost as good as a hundred dolphins.

I'd appreciate if the timetable is posted here! Specifically the timings and the days they run for
- ferry from Havelock to Rangat (this runs daily, I hear)
- ferry from Diglipur to Port Blair (one per week, I hear) or to Havelock

Well.. the inter-island ferry schedule is available at www.and.nic.in site. Don't know how to make sense of this. It appears to be the schedule of ferries leaving Port Blair but there is no return trip schedule.

please excuse my ineptitude martinez, i expect that i was clocked by one of those flying fish without realising it.
andamans was ok.i just wish i had known how good the snorkelling was at beach 2 as i only discovered it in the last 4 days. along the edge of the reef was great snorkelling, in my opinion.
