Hi Mel,
I was wondering pretty much the same as you and what i did was to trawl this forum to get some idea. The conclusion i came to is this: I am going to take a tent with me(us actually)because i think Andaman is gonna be quite packed, especially christmas and new year. We plan to avoid Havelock and the in ya face tourist bit and go somewhere else . I have heard it said that camping is allowed and i have heard it said that it isn´t. It might be to our benefit that we return to Kolkata from Port Blair on christmas day(especially to avoid the bullshit of the event)and avoid the squeeze .I am just looking to hole up in some real quiet place ,play guitar for hours and swim for even longer. Ivé read that last season,at peak time there was not enough accomodation to suppy demand,so if that is the case again then a tent is an option. Maybe pay a local some monies to stay on their land or something. I must confess that i prefer the idea of a bed but a tent keeps most mossies away(especially if sprayed with some repelant). My advice to you is to read all the posts in this forum and see what your instinct tells you....Good luck Martinez. |
