Havelock Map

Hey guys,

Has any one got a map of Havelock with the various resorts, beach numbers etc labelled on it? I'm trying to work out the best place to stay and am getting confused about where the various resorts are located.

This is what I have compiled so far:-

Emerald Gecko- ?
Cafe del Mar - # 3
Island Vinne - # 3
Seashell resort - # 2
Dolphin - # 5
Coconut - # 2

I'm looking for a place I can easily access a SCUBA operator and also a good place for snorkelling.

Cheers

Rob

We stayed @ Emerald Gecko (www.emerald-gecko.com) and did scuba diving with Island Vinnie's, which is a few minutes walk from Emerald Gecko. Alternatively you can stay @ Island Vinnie's, they have lodging facilities.

between 1 & 3!!. Not mentioned cos its either not frequented by tourist or maybe inaccessible. Beaches 5 & 7 are the most famous ones.

Nowhere is that far from anywhere else on that side of the island, beaches 1 and 2 are kind of isolated just south of the harbour but 3,4 and 5 are where the action/diving/accomodation is, most people rent scooters Rs 200/300 depending on how long you have them-or a pushbike but thats a bit like hard work if its hot!

Well, you can walk if you are feeling energetic or take the bus or a rickshaw.

As far as snorkelling goes, the beach situated just around the headland from No 7 is fantastic. For scuba diving beach number 3, as you said before, at the Cafe Del Mar.

beach no 2 is certainly not inaccesible. you can snorkel along the edge of the reef right out the front of the resorts there, including seashells resort. there is a diving school run by 2 lovely israelis at a resort 2 doors up from there. not sure of the name of that resort but might be eco something? they started the dive school last year.
the snorkelling along the reef there is not spectacular but is very good and beach 2 is not too far from the jetty.

yeah...

great spot! not much good for snorkelling but the shells were good there. i collect shells and had a fun time on the andamans. so many different types of shells. i didn't stay in the dolphin but it looked neat. i stayed at the government guest house on neil island and that was lovely. good food, helpful, friendly staff and a bit of luxury (for me)
normally don't worry about air con but needed some for a while, there.

Distance between Emerald Gecko and Dive India

Hello guys!

After having a close look on the map of havelock I am a bit confused... I plan to stay at Emerald Gecko in November and do some diving (probably) at Dive India. But on the map there is a line indicating that the distance between the two is well above 5 km??
Is it really that far? Will it be ok to walk the distance every morning?

Thanks for any help!

Its more like one kilometre-use google earth for distances is better than the maps-everywhere is a short bike or scooter ride apart from beach 7 which is 20 min scooter ride.

Ice,
I can see the 5km legend, but am not sure how to interpret it or if you have interpreted it correctly.

I think the distance between Emerald Gecko, where we stayed and Island Vinnie's is around 1.5 Km

I have attached a better map which might be of use. It is maybe a bit more to scale than the one earlier in the thread.

It is possible I have added it earlier, if so I applogize for doing it once more.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks a lot for the information! Yes, the second map definitely looks more accurate. So I won't have to walk 8 kilometers, that is good news!
