Flashback to Havelock - October 2008

Ran through some of my pics and decided to put em up with a brief of an amazing trip i had a few years ago.

All pics were taken using a Canon SX10IS P&S which delivered some outstanding picture quality.

A night shot of Port Blair, stayed in a regular hotel which was decent.

The Kingfisher flight from Chennai to Port Blair was terrific; we got an amazing view of the islands from above and also an extended tour as the runway was busy and the pilot took us around the place for a good 15 minutes.

After I reached Port Blair, I found a hotel, checked in and freshened up a bit. Decided to explore Port Blair that day itself and hired an auto guy to take me to Cellular Jail, which happened to be just 10 min away. A few pictures from that night...

This place has seen many a dark time... when i got to see the place for myself and heard of what happened, I was shocked to say the least.

Only once you enter one of those cells can you fully comprehend the horror of being locked in one of them for 3 decades, eating food slid under your door day after day -

All this time the sea is right beside you and you can hear freedom but can never feel it. The best part is none of this torture actually broke your will... just amazing.
