Exit India via Port Blair?

I remember seeing old threads about the possibility of flights being offered from Port Blair to Thailand. I'm wondering if this every happened?

My question is........ is it possible to leave India by way of Port Blair? Can I go to Port Blair through Chennai, and then head off to Thailand or somewhere, or do I have to return to Chennai?
