Dive India vs Barefoot?

Hi All
Trying to decide between Dive India + Island Vinnies combo or Barefoot diving + their resort. From whatever I have read online, Vinnies accomodation looks rundown while their diving is rated excellent. Barefoot acco has great reviews but very little information on the quality of their diving instruction, especially for beginners.

Any take on if the Barefoot diving (to learn) is good, and therefore this will be the better option?

Thanks much !

Not that this will help much. But I heard Island Vinnie was pretty good from friends. So i've booked diving and accommodation with them. I'll be there in January, let you know how it turns out then.

tafuting,

I have heard good things about both the outifts. I personally have experience only with Barefoot and i must say they were pretty good and professional. Again, it also depends on who your instructor is going to be.

Check out my blog http://sites.google.com/site/naveentravelsites/ if you are interested about my diving experience at Havelock.

Good description of your diving experience. Nice pictures. This reminds me of our (me & wife) trip to Havelock in Feb 07. We did go for one scuba dive with Andaman Dive Club (I believe it's closed now a days) as Barefoot & Dive India were full. By the way your blog has Dec 2009 dates.

Ronak.

dive info

hello from Boston- I returned last night from India and 6 nights on Havelock (after a 3 week road tour). My friends and I stayed at Symphony Palms which is near both Vinnie's and the Cafe del Mar ( Barefoot). We dived with Lacca Dives which is located in the Silver Sands resort. Great service; great DMs; very good new ScubaPro equipment and an oversized compressor with good air. We brought or own wetsuits (full vs shorties) and regs with computers. They gave us some credit for bringing our gear. All shops charge the same for diving- 3 days of 2 tanks is Rp 10000, and additional dive days are Rp3000. All boats are the same type which are more like dugouts with a motor. Lacca picked us up at our hotel and brought us to the shop or to the jetty depending on our departure point. We are world experienced divers and were pleased with the easy diving and all were about 1 hr. Lacca, Dive India, and Barefoot are all "friends" and are all good operations.
