Diglipur - please help

First of all - thanks to all of you that took the time to advise in this forum - the info has been great.

My girl and I are heading to Andamans after a week in India. We will be spending 11 days to have some rest and relaxation but also to see some great sights..

We are going to Havelock and will spend a day at Neil Island, but the question mark i have is whether or not to go to Diglipur.

We would arrive on a Saturday in January and I would like to catch the bus one way (the possibility of seeing a native is exciting) and the overnight ferry back. My questions are:

1) Is it worth going to Diglipur? ie is the time taken for the bus and ferry worth the time up there, as we are here for a limited time?

2) How is the bus ride - I know it will be Indian style but is the scenery from the window interesting?

3) If it is worth heading up there, how long would you reecommend staying? I understand that only day trips are allowed to Smith Island. Apart from Smith are there any other interesting things to see/do?

4) Bookings - does anyone know where i could find the bus/ferry and Turtle Resort booking info on the web? We would like to arrive Port Blair Sat morning then jump on the bus soon after from Port Blair..

Can't wait to go!!

There is the highest peak to visit as it is impossible to navigate to the top without a guide

There are just two places on is pristine (owned by the dad of the guy who runs pristine resort at havelock)150-400 and the Govt resort(which has to be booked in port blair only).

Apart from that nothing . The tickets for the ferry back to port blair are very tough to get as you have to go to the port to get them 20km away and there is only a bus no rickshaws or anything else in that area.

Turtle beach resort can only be booked from the tourism office at port blair .Bus to rangat usually leave port blair in the morning and usually jam packed.
The ferry to rangat leaves port blair on certain day and then you can take a jeep or bus (certain times) last bus used to be a 4.30 from rangat to the turtle beach resort.

This info is from Jan 2007...
