Cruise from Chennai to Port Blair
Hello all,
Iam planning to goto Andaman in the month of December. I was checking this site http://www.andamanisland.com/reach.htm, which gives info on ships that travel from chennai to port blair. My question is , how comfortable is the ship journey , apart for the duration of 60 hrs??? what is the difference between deluxe cabin, A Class & B Class cabin???? Would really appreciate if i can get some 1st hand info on this..thanks in advance :-) Cheers! |

fly!
if you can afford it as there are trips on boats that you can do between and around some of the islands. i have just been to neil island and the accommodation is minimal. it must get realy packed out in the touristy months but what a place! it is gorgeous.
i am told there is a boat trip for 8 hours going from port blair to digliapur/or north and a 12 hour bus trip for the same destination. other shorter boat trips as well. |

Hi!
I went from Chennai to Port Blair by ferry 2 years ago. It took 3 nights, and cost 1550 Rupees in bunk class. After the first night, I slept out on deck as it got really hot down with bunks, where it was crowded and a bit dirty. But overall I enjoyed the experience, met loads of people. You should bring some food with you. If you have the time, and don't mind too much a little bit of discomfort, the ferry is a great way to arrive in Port Blair. |

hey shiver....thanx for yr post....well actually i didnot mention that iam carrying my 2 yr old daughter along with me....so dyu think probably a B Class would be better rather than a Rs 1550 bunker ??? Or shud it be strictly Deluxe / A Class ???
Iam not lookin for luxury...all we need is privacy and a comfortable journey :-).. And Kalbarri, I'll definitely check out neil island if time permits ...thanx |

Yeah I think the B class should suffice - I didn't really get a good look at the cabins, but they should be ok.
