Cancelled flight to Port Blair
The first signs of the semi-cartel of Jet and Kingfisher are showing. Kingfisher Red cancelled their flights and we had our return Port Blair tickets (confirmed booking about a month back from their website) with them.
I avoided Jetlite, even though rates were very low (non-refundable), lower than my earlier tickets, just so another nightmare doesn't occur. But just apprehensive about Indian Airlines -- does it have a record of delays and cancellations on the Kolkata-Port Blair route? Anyone who's flown Indian Airlines and any hiccups with that airlines on that route? Thanks in advance :-) [PS. one good thing about the change in flights-- will reach Port Blair early in the morning, in time to make to Jolly Buoy or Chidiatapu...) |

are you saying that you lost out ,or is it just that your flight times were changed?

Oh no that's awful, hope you get it sorted. We have flights with Air Deccan which is now Kingfisher to Port Blair in December - are they cancelling this route entirely?

I rang Kingfisher and seems mine has been cancelled too so thanks for the heads up. Lord knows how I would have found out otherwise...
I'd go with Air India if I were you (and I can of am and that's what I did). Although their flights are crazy early! Now fingers crossed I actually get my refund from Make My Trip - they weren't very helpful... When are you (hopefully) heading to the Andamans? |

Waaah, my flights have been cancelled as well! For the flight out Jet rescheduled me on a Jetlite flight and for the return they told me I would have to contact them in a couple of days...
Thanks for this thread, otherwise I would have had no idea!

Alright, another call.
For all those booked on Jet Airways from Kolkata to Port Blair. Call Jet right now. I have now been re-booked for both ways onto Jetlite flights, but it seems I have to take their word for it. Of course the old PNR doesn't work any more and they "are unable to mail a new itinerary or e-ticket to me". Last edited by Baba : Oct 21st, 2008 at 17:32. Reason: spelling |

hmm .. i was just planning to order tickets from dec 15-20th .. from chennai to port blair.
i'll probably call kingfisher in advance. btw .... does it matter selecting residency (India or non India)? I mean I work here, I have a business visa for 1 year. There is a huge rate difference ... 9250 Rs to 340 USD. |

Firstclass, at least with Jet Airways the changes are reflected in the current schedule. That would indicate that they intend to fly whatever you can book now.
And choosing Indian rates with a white face may create problems... |

Sorry for the delayed reply
Didn't get the time to check back on my post.
Yes, my flights with Kingfisher Red got cancelled. I rebooked immediately with Indian Airlines (agree with the crazy timings, but it has some advantages as well, come to that later). Glad that you guys were helped on by this thread, I know we are in the same soup. I got to know from a colleague with a similar booking. Yatra smsed everyone, but I never got any intimation from Kingfisher despite booking right from there site. Have got the refund already though. Yes, I too hope this time it is smooth flying. There was a Jetlite option, which was cheaper too, but was wary of it. Desperately hope there are no other upsets. |

I posted the whole crazy story of how I got that new ticket on "Domestic Flights". |

Are you people talking about Chennai to Port Blair Kingfisher morning 10:00am flight (IT-3633)?
I have also booked the same one for January. I rang Kingfisher yesterday and they said that the flight is still scheduled and not canceled. I even asked that person to check status of the same flight on 20th Dec (just some arbitrary date) and he said the flight is not canceled on that day too. So I am confused now ![]() |
