Question andaman/nicobar - travel agents, airlines

Hello everyone,

I will be visiting Andaman early next year.

Does anyone have experience with travel agents for tour packages within the Andaman Nicobar Islands? Do you have any recommendations?

Kingfisher, Indian Airlines and Jetlite seem to have flights from the mainland to the islands. Does anyone prefer one over the other on account of service or safety issues (if any)?

thank you.

Kingfisher withdrew their flights.Check also the airline holiday package with the airlines...they are good and flexible.

Mayabunder, Havelock or just the south?

There seem to be three major areas in Andamans open to foreign tourists.
- Mayabunder, Diglipur, Ross/Smith islands in the north
- Havelock island northeast of Port Blair
- Port Blair and places/islands south of Port Blair

Which area is worth spending most time in (with not-so-touristy places to visit)?

thanks,

Mayabunder, Diglipur, Ross/Smith islands in the north

Mayabunder is a small little town with nothing to do or see and food is lousy.Rooms were dingy and guys from the town where coming to the hotel to drink and get drunk and that was irritating and a bit scary.

Diglipur was worse with two hotels the government one and another one(where the owners are religious fanatics chanting throught the night).Transport is extremely difficult with the bus being the only mode of transport.Getting tickets of the ferry is a torture unless its done through the hotel owner or some of the workers.

- Havelock island northeast of Port Blair

The only place which has decent places to eat and stay and has cycles, scooters, rickshaws and buses. The only place which resembles goa without the rave parties.

- Port Blair and places/islands south of Port Blair

Cant stand any place connected to this city.
