Andaman in November

I am thinking of visitng the andamans in Nov i have read that the monsoon season is from May to September and then again in November. Can anyone confirm this. Other websites say that from Oct to May is the best time to visit.

Thank you

I was there last December, November is a good time to visit, although there might be a slight drizzle or sometimes slight showers here and there. It may affect your schedule if you are planning on Scuba diving or snorkeling. Suggest you to get in touch with some travel agencies there, locals know the weather pretty well.

It was just perfect last December, sunny but not too hot. we went for Scuba diving & Snorkeling, a very good experience. I was there on the first week, but would suggest sometime around mid to end December.

My two cents...

I vistited the andamans back in late november -99. The weather was pretty intense: heavy rain, winds and all boats to connecting islands were cancelled for nearly a week. Scuba diving was also out of the question.

But in early december the weather changed rapidly and the diving were spectacular to say at least. But I guess the weather situation varies a lot from year to year.

If possible and if you're on a tight timeschedule, i would consider postponing the trip a couple of weeks, just to be "sure".

/Jan

Hi ,I arrived in the Andamans on 30 nov 07. the weather was a bit humid. The 1st of december was light rain in Port Blair in the morning but by 9am this had cleared. The cyclone that ravaged Bangladesh in November,07, passed closebye to the Andamans on the east side. The first 3 weeks of December the wind was northerly and quite strong day and night. As a consequence the sea on the north side of islands was well choppy, southsides like millponds. The other added advantage of the wind is that mosquitos dont bother in breazey places and nor do sand flies.
Many people have said to me that the waters around the Andamans are very calm in January and February, and little wind.
Of coarse, about a week and a half before christmas, holiday destinations begin to get busy.i left Neil Island on 22nd of December for Port blair and on to Kolkata, and was not sorry to miss the arriving hoardes. Hopimg this post is helpful to you.

Hello again ,I forgot to mention the diving.SPECTACULAR.See some recent theads, this years, for more diving info.

Question How expensive is diving during the season time?

Will be visitng havelock islands during December ths year. How expensive can be diving or snorkelling there? Do you need to know swimming for that? Me and my husband are non-swimmers.

Rates for diving & snorkelling will be same as during other times. Only thing is you will need to book your dive in advance as they get full quite often especially during December. Accomodation would be expensive during this time as compared to other times but still you have plenty of choices. If you are non swimmers you will still be able to dive & snorkel. But why not learn swimming since you have lots of time. Just a suggestion.

Ronak.
