Andaman ferry sleeping arrangments

Hello,
Does anyone know if we are still allowed to sleep on hammocks on the Chennai-Port Blair ferry deck? I was told that sleeping on deck has been banned since an Isreali was murdered a few years back... Please enlighten.....

Hiya,
Honestly i would not reccoment it really was horrible as not allowed on the decks no more and as the food provided was horrible all the fellow people had brought food wich after days attracted lots of rats.....
Gets very hot and too over crowded for my likes....
I hope youll opt for the easyer and not that much more expensive way of flying something definatey worth it and than maybe instead save on taking a non beachfront bungalow to stay at will save u about half the price a night
be well feel good Enjoy!!!!!!!!!! its magical out there (especially Wandoor beach..Sanctuary guesthouse was the ultimate jungle beach experience for us :-)

Thanks Wonderland81. The last time I went to the Andamans (2001) I took the ferry and it was such a wonderful experience only due to the fact that we were allowed to sleep on hammocks on the deck. I'm not sure I understood what you said in your comment. Are we no longer allowed to sleep on deck??
