Andaman Boat

Hi everbody...
I was planning to visit the Andamans island on my round-india journey, but the thing is that i cant find any info about the boat from Chennai, all i know i that it costs about 1500rs each way. I´ve heard som horrible storys about the boat but it couldnt be that bad? im willing to receive any info at all at this point cuase i dont think we´ll take the flight, its to expensive for our budget, we need the money to Nepal, Bhutan och China also so the boat is our only hope to visit the andamans. I´ve also heard that it is very difficult to get some boattickets, is that true?

Those schedules seem to go up just for the present month (or possibly the four weeks ahead) yes. The ride at least in the lower classes is said to be none too comfortable no. It is said further delays en route are something to take into account.

That's about all I know. I've never been there.

On the bright side, I've never read of anyone missing out on those boat tickets. Will take some flexibility I reckon; if only because those boats depart just every two or four weeks. I guess a good approach would be to rock up in either Chennai or Kolkata where they depart, then make your arrangements, and be ready to keep yourself amused in the vicinity until departure.
