Take the malaria risk seriously, I read that it is bad there just now.

However, don't go to the Andaman's expecting world-class facilities, resorts, etc. The islands are still very under-developed - no 5-star hotels or restauraunts or anything at all like that. If you're after that kind of thing, you're probably better off going to the Lakhshadeep Islands, or the Maldives. |

Honeymoon in Andamans
Quote:
Right, Andaman is least developed; therefore, no 5 stars or the like. Yet, it's beautiful, and so unique; all that at Indian rates. Me and my wife spent our honeymoon in Little Andaman 6 years ago in June-July. This season is not considered as best, but it was all fine actually: almost no rain, temperatures were around 32, and we only saw 2 other tourists during the whole 2 weeks stay. The place is so remote that we often felt like lost Robinson Cruosés in a deserted island. Locals are nice. Facilities are very few, yet enough to keep one entertained a bit. Bikes are available for rent too. We went to Havelock last year, and we were a bit disappointed. We expected maybe too much after reading all the good feedback... If it's about diving, then yes, Havelock offers this facility, although you'll need to travel about 2 hours + returns by boat to get to the right spot. There's only beach #7 where snorkeling is possible, but there I was eaten up by sand flies. IF you opt for Little Andaman, make sure to do the appropriate booking at the concerned government office there in Port-Blair. (Should be possible by fax/email/phone). The only available accommodation is owned by them. Whatever it is, best of my wishes! |

Me and my hubby wanted to experience living in a tree house. the plam grove eco resort gives an option at an affordable price too! Bt is that place far flung from the airport or the jetty. We'll be staying at havelock mostly. wl it be difficult to access that from palm grove///????
![]() I have read abt this menace quite a few times.....are these flies also thr on the beach in December? it's only during the evenings, i believe.....we'll be staying at barefoot..i hope there'll be not much problem at our cottage at nights can anyone give an idea as to whether barefoot allows the facility of beach chairs and drinks on the beach during the day or the eve? how far is it from the beach//the famous beach 7 ![]() Last edited by brownboy66 : May 13th, 2008 at 01:13. Hi,
Havelock is 2-3 hours away from Port-Blair by boat, or about half an hour by helicopter. Havelock is small, so nothing is really far. I think it takes about 30 minutes by transport from jetty till Barefoot. Sandflies are only there in Beach no 7, although it seems not everyone gets affected. I guess you should be able to cope. Nothing to worry about the cottages, as they're clean and comfortable. Standard there is quite good, and they surely provide the facilities you mention. The only thing is it's totally isolate there. I mean, there's virtually nothing except the resort and beautiful beach no7. I guess 1 week there is more than enough. |

barefoot is an amazing resort and is located just next to radhanagar beach/beach number 7. It will take you two minutes to walk. I do not think there will be any problem there. They do not really provide chairs at the beach but you can pick up drinks and go to the beach. in the night you would love to have a drink at barefoot's lounge. many resorts also organise a dinner with candle light at the beach. I am not too sure about barefoot but wild orchid and silver sand do organise. Do go for snorkelling/diving. Its an amazing world out there. Dive India at beach no. 5 is highly recomended. Nothing much in port blair. try and minimise your stay there. you have to stay atleast one night on your way back as all flights are in the morning but havelock is absolutley gorgeous. if you are looking for sun and sand and beautiful beaches, pristine water, and some solitude Andamans are the place to be in |

Yes, I also wanted to recommend Wild Orchid for an evening meal. It's in Beach no5, so you'll need to travel about 30 minutes by taxi or rent bike.
Snorkeling is readily available and amazingly beautiful in Beach no7 (no need to know swimming), while other places require hours traveling by boat until you reach a diving spot. (I assume most boats do not offer protection against sun). |

You can also snorkel at beach number 5. I went diving about 30 min by boat from there and the coral gardens were incredible. I had no problem with sandflies but I never went to No 7 at night/evening. Try the emerald Gecko for food. It's fantastic, plus the accomodation is excellent and they offer good discounts in shoulder seasons.

To me, July is perfect. There might be rain, and sun is somewhat stronger than in winter, but temperatures remain roughly the same.
The good thing id that there will be very few tourists, so you'll feel that the whole place belongs to you. |
