What to do at 2:00am?
Needs some advice. We are arriving in Agra at 2:00am on the train from Khajuraho. What does one do, waiting for dawn? Is there a retiring room in the train station where we can rest? Do people try to find a hotel that is open? Do you stay on the train/sleeper all the way to Delhi and then take a train back?
Thanks Bob |

I would definitely find a hotel & get a few zzzzzzz's - especially if I planned to be bright eyed & bushy tailed for sunrise - which happens @ approximately 7:00am in December. I'm sure budget travellers have a whole slew of tricks tucked away in their backpacks that might save them the night's hotel tariff though .......

Generally Retiring rooms are Booked up in the evening, so there's no chance.
You can stay at Waiting Room on the Platform No.1. Its better to stay at Station if your hotel is nor pre book to avoid any misshappening.

You can usually crash in the waiting room; as an unaccompanied female (travelling 2AC), I usually choose the Upper Class Ladies Waiting Room... where the toilets are normally pretty clean and sometimes the ayah will help me get settled.
Note that there are no beds there, so you have to sleep on a cold floor and use your own shawls or blanket.

Thank you all for your help.
I think that I will up-grade our tickets from sleeper class to 2AC so that we can avail ourselves of the upper class waiting room and just while away the hours until sunrise. We have a nice place to stay for the next two nights so in the long run things will balance out nicely. Bob |

Will paying a tip for retiring room help? Bob may go on a recce within 100 yards of the station. If he finds something suitable, he can come back for wife and luggage.
