What else to see in Agra.....

Aside from taj and fort?

We will be coming from Delhi by car, so arriving Agra around noon time. We will skip Mathura and just focus on Agra. We will head back to Delhi around 5pm.

Agra Sightseeing

I've often said I've never been to Agra, but just the Wikipedia article on it would seem to list a whole host of lesser-known sights there that I suspect I wouldn't at all mind seeing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agra.

Having said my above though, and so me having never been there, I wouldn't really expect to be able to fit in that much more in that short timeframe.

Maybe others will yet comment, or you can search this site for it, questions like this get asked all the time. Keep in mind native or resident Indians may zip around at a pace a foreign tourist may find unlikely to copy. So this needs to be taken into consideration when you're told you can do this-that-and the other, no problem.

With a car and driver, yes, who knows, maybe a sight or two more. I obviously can't say. If hired through a company, they should have some idea of where to take you, and hopefully depending on your wishes.

Not possible to see all those places in Wikipedia list in such a short time.Best to see those listed on post # 2. They are the ones not to miss.

You can really OD on monuments in Agra.
My favourites, aside from the Taj.

1. Get a cab to the other side of the river from the Taj. Hike down to the shore of the river and look at it alone.
2. Find a rooftop cafe at full moon and look down on the Taj.

Taj Moohal:

If you have enough time add to the list Fatehpur Sikri and Sikandra.

The Tourist Dept in Agra has an amazing map of the lesser known sites in Agra. Would to get that one but... They are well worth checking out, better atmosphere for sure. Things not on the checklist..
