Traveling from Agra to Ranthambore Park
I wonder if anyone could advise us on how we can get from Agra to Ranthambore National Park (Sawai Madhopur station) on Sunday 31st December. I have spent several hours on the website for Indian Railways but can't find a train number/name or any sort of timetable for trains running between the two towns.
Many thanks: |

Agra Fort (station code AF)
Sawai Madhopur (SWM) There is a daily passenger train (amongst other trains) that departs Agra Fort at about 5 in the morning, then Fathepur Sikri at about 6, and gets to Sawai Madhopur at about 11 or 12.

Do you know the train number we can't seem to find it anywhere?
Do we have to take 2 trains and swap in the middle? Is it possible to go from Agra to Ranthambore, do a tour and then get a train to Jaipur? Thanks Loz |

Trains from Agra to Ranthambore
Dear Loz
There are trains that go from Agra Fort to Ranthambore (Sawai Madhopur) without changing. You can find the details at: http://www.indianrail.gov.in Click on Train Schedule then Trains between stations Add the source station code as: AF Destination code as: SWM Click on All class Take note of the days that trains arrive in Agra (some travel over two days for example they start on a Saturday and arrive Agra on Sunday) I don't think you would have time to do a tour of Ranthambore Park and then go on to Jaipur unless you take a late train overnight. There is one that leaves Sawai at 01.45 and arrives Jaipur at 4.15 Search for the codes Source: SWM Destination: JP From my understanding the guided tours into the park are twice a day - early morning and then late afternoon. One possibility would be to stay at one of the resorts. We have chosen the Pugmark which looks good and will organise the tour into the park. You can find details at: http://www.thepugmark.net/ There are plenty of others depending on your budget. Hope this helps |

Thanks so much, I couldn't find SWM in the menu so I used Kota Jn (KOTA) station and that worked fine. I feel like I am finally working out the puzzle of the train site!!
Train numbers 282, 9038, 9570, 09040, 2942 and 5636 run between Agra Fort (AF) and Sawai Madhopur (SWM) if anyone else is finding it difficult. |

How was the Pugmark?
I was just wondering how your experience at the Pugmark Resort went. We are booked there in late June. If anyone else has had experience there, please feel free to chime in. And yes, I know that Ranthambore and all North India will be way too hot that time of year.
I just don't have much flexibility as to the time of year I can travel. |

Feedback on Pugmark?
Our little family will be staying a few nights in November. Does anyone have any input? Thanks! |

Breakfast with Taj View
Dear All,
Which is the best breakfast place at Taj Ganj and with Taj view? I guess that rooftop terrace is needed to have a really good view of the Taj Mahal. ![]() |

Myself and my husband have just returned from a November trip to Rajasthan and spent 2 nights at The Pugmark. I thought it was an average experience. The hotel staff were quite friendly but sometimes I would have preferred to have been left alone, rather than be asked banal questions and have waiters give me a sob story on how little they got paid and how little they saw of their loved ones. There was plenty of food which was ok in quality. Not much meat. One night they made a BBQ which was much better than the buffet. There is an office computer which you can use for 150 rupees/hr. There was a small slide show one night, the other night they had some musicians and a little boy dancing which I thought were quite bad. Drinks were expensive so buy outside and don't expect the hotel to supply any bottles of water for your room. We managed to get hot water, some people didn't. The rooms are dark - the lighting is bad. There's a pool which is nice to relax around. The guy who runs the shop was the most helpful person in the hotel. The actual safaris were badly organised but this is done through the park - arriving an hour late, driving fast, some unprofessional guides etc. Lucky dip on the route you get. Canters are rowdy. Jeeps much better if you can get them. Big focus on spotting the tigers. Some people saw tigers. I didn't.
