Visit Agra, stay and comeback...now how you want to travel depends on your budget, you can book a car, or you can use a train as well...

The area near railway station is a Dump and not worth a second look...however backpackers still stay there...
It depends on your budget..everything else in Delhi is much better than Paharganj.. |

@shashank.aggarwal
The train (2002 Bhopal Satabdi Express) starts from New Delhi (& NOT from Nizamuddin) from 06.15hrs & reaches Agra Cantt. at 8.12hrs. For your information, 2280 Taj Express starts from Nizamuddin at 07.15hrs & reaches Agra Cantt. at 10.07hrs. In case of detailed schedule pls check http://www.indianrail.gov.in/src_dest_trns.html |

My experience
We travelled by train 6:15am..get a guide to get you on the right train -its incredibly crowded and not well sign posted. The train arrives around 8:15, you don't need more than one day in Agra, see if there is a train back that evening. The road back to Delhi took our friends 6 hours due to traffic - heavy trucks use the roads after 9. The roads during the day are scary enough -get a driver..you do NOT want to drive, and I think its impossible to rent a car. Our previous friend is right do not stay any where near the station in Delhi. We stayed at The maidens..very clean and comfortable. Through our tour company I think we paid $159 a night..not cheap but worth it, we found hotels to be very cheap and very expensive with very few hotels in the middle. It is cooling down now, so a/c is probably not that important a feature.

One day is not enough for Agra (of course my personal view) if you want to see all the places extensively. Taj itself takes around 2 hours, Agra Fort around 2.5-3 hrs. Fatepur Sikri (about 1 hour drive from Agra) takes around 3 hours if want to explore it well. So Fatepur Sikri itself takes 5 hours (3hrs +2 hrs travelling). If you're staying plan to stay around a full moon night. U can enjoy the Taj at full moon night. U can actually buy special night view ticket for Taj visit during the period. Vist http://asi.nic.in/asi_monu_whs_agratajmahal_nigh t.asp to see the fullmoon dates & other details for Taj night visit. Enjoy our Incredible India.

I like the above as the Taj is only a modest part of the Agra experience. I would especially empasize FS..
