Shashank, now that is an idea. But I mean then we blame ourselves that we Indian academicians do not do research! And for that matter if one searches the academic databases, at least my search throws up no papers on Agra's destination image! When I saw that result I could not believe my eyes.

Though to be fair, there are a few books on Agra as a destination. Has anyone read this book by Tim Edensor?

Here's another one I found, mridula.

From The Hindu:
Quote:
The number of visitors to the Mysore Palace in 2006 was 25,25,687 and as per the Archaeological Survey of India figures while the figure was 25,39,471 tourists visited the Taj Mahal in Agra.
That figure seems exact enough to possibly be true.

Crvlvr, I have seen numbers being quoted from newspapers. Anyway, I also have figures that I quoted in the first post from from Incredible India website. And this is just two lines of background information, not my main data. So I believe it is alright.

ScarletLSG, thanks a lot for the information.
